Ok, so I have a defense deoxys, counter, mirror coat, recover, and spikes, what should I use for a held item? I use it for both singles and doubles. I use it and a guzzlord, deoxys for set up, and guzzlord with a quick claw for keeping it alive long enough for some good set ups and the possible damage return of counter/mirror coat. Usum battle spot. Mostly 3v3 for single and 4v4 for doubles. I dont use the guzzlord for singles.

leftovers
Normally one would give such a tanky Pokemon Leftovers, but since you plan on using it like a wobbuffet, I would give it a health restoring berry
This is for competitive, right? What format?
It says Ultra-sun-and-moon so battle spot I think.
Quick Claw.
Deoxys will be given boosted speed and has a 20% chance of going first.
Custap Berry would work.

The asker never told us the format, so I'm going to guess 6v6 singles. If it really is 6v6 singles, then the best item is probably leftovers because it lets Deoxys live longer. And if you're willing to possibly change Pokemon, then you should use Ferrothorn for a much better type combination and movepool.

Counter and mirror coat are generally unreliable ways to deal damage because they take up 2 move slots, and Deoxys has very low HP. After opponents have seen you use those moves once, they can easily avoid damage by switching out or using status moves. They're even worse in doubles because the opponents can just attack your other Pokemon. Spikes is also pretty useless in 3v3 singles and 4v4 doubles because the opponent has no more than 2 options to switch to, so they're usually going to use a move regardless of spikes.
