I received a French Totem Gumshoos in a Wonder Trade on my Pokémon Sun. It's really cool that you are able to have a Totem Pokémon in Sun and Moon, so I decided to try and make a somewhat competitive moveset for him. He's Hardy nature with perfect HP, Sp. Atk, and Sp. Def, so I thought to make it a special set. Here's what I got so far:

Gumshoos @ Bright Powder
Adaptability
Hardy
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 4 Sp. Def
• Rest
• Mud Slap
• Round
• Sleep Talk/Hidden Power (Ice)

This moveset is an evasion one, with Bright Powder and Mud Slap making it hard to hit Argouste. Rest would be used to heal him if he were to ever be hit and would combo weel with a move I'm considering. Finally, Round is STAB and Adaptability boosted. I'm torn on the last move, though. Should I run Sleep Talk or Hidden Power Ice? Sleep Talk could continue Mud Slap's accuracy-lowering havoc or chip in some damage with Round, but also has the fatal chance to call for Rest. Hidden Power Ice, though, provides good coverage and damage, hitting Pokémon that before would have taken no damage. Even so, that leaves Argouste as a sitting duck for two turns until he wakes up from Rest. In that time, he most likely won't be hit because of the evasion boosting, but the opposing Pokémon could set up against him. Which one do you think would be better?

What if both of them are bad?
>somewhat competitive moveset
not telling you that you shouldn't, but a gimmick moveset like this isn't really competitive at all
Are you sure your hidden Power is ice type?
Yes, it is Hidden Power Ice! I checked. And I know this isn't a very good moveset, it's just something I wanted to try out.
Oh, neat. I remember back in emerald how I tried to get hidden Power rock for my sceptile in vain xD

As for your set tho, both are risky. Sleep talk gives you a 1/3 chance to fail, and the other two options are useless against flying and ghost types, which aren't so common, and you shouldn't stay in on them anyway. Then again, HP Ice hits them for super effective and neutral damage, so there's that, but your gumshoos is a sitting (sleeping?) duck till two turns are over.

I would go for Sleep Talk. Being able to act in your sleep is an amazing advantage. Not to mention Hidden Power Ice is weaker than Ice Punch, which hits from his base 110 attack instead of his 65 special attack. And both of them are weaker than a Return:
252 Atk Adaptability Gumshoos Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Pidgeot: 250-296 (81.4 - 96.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Gumshoos Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Pidgeot: 184-218 (59.9 - 71%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
So I would use Sleep Talk and replace Round with Return.

I would take Sleep Talk. Being stuck doing nothing for to turns sucks. Also, drop Round for Take Down, which has good damage and gets STAB. You can heal back the recoil damage with Rest.
