This is for competitive use (Battle Tree specific). Both of them are my favorite Water/Ice type Pokemon.

Please specify the set and tier.
Battle Tree
Lapras
Nature: Modest
Ability: Water Absorb
Item: Assault Vest
IVs: 252 HP, 252 SpAtk, 4 Def
Moves:

Surf
Psychic

Walrein
Nature: Modest
Ability: Ice Body
Item: Ice Rock
IVs: 252 Hp, 252 SpAtk

Why not use Cloyster? It's better than both of them.
Was brought to my attention this is a duplicate question; edited the title to give it some specific focus. Should be fine now.

Both are good at similar things really bulky with mediocre attacking stats and A ok movepool

Lapras has the most bulk of the two with 130/80/95 to walreins 110/90/90 arguably I gess
Both are super slow with walreines 65 and Lapras with 60 walreins 95 special attack 80 attack favers special attack but Lapras can do both with 85 in both I suggest these movesets

Lapras
Ability: Water Absorb
Item leftovers
EVs: 92 HP / 164 Atk / 252 SpA
Mild Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Drill run
Thunderbolt to get rid of other water types
Ice Beam and Surf/Scald for stab drill run to get rid of Steel type that trys to wall it

walrein set

Walrein @ Normalium Z
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Def / 148 SpA / 44 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stockpile
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Toxic

of all the sets I ran on walrein Z stockpile is the best eat one hit then Z stockpile heal back up to full because of it and then be plus one on your defenses walrein has to run more bulky set because of it limited movepool
I acknowledge you have prior movesets
But these are the best ones I can think of but if I had to choose I would probably say walrein

I actually wouldn't have thought of these sets. They are really not that bad at all!
Lapras can't learn scald...
These are really, really bad movesets but I won't downvote because we have a mutual understanding now and I don't want to change that
Just because they're not Helix716... I'm ashamed!
@sumwun Showdown said it could editing
@ eviltwinneedle. If it's not Smogon or helix716 that doesn't mean its bad and he literally said they were good
If Smogon said a moveset was bad, and some random person said it was good, then who would you trust more?
I would trust them both equally
Very true. For example, Hydro Pump and Freeze Dry are both better than surf. Also, I don't think Drill Run is necessary for Lapras.
@oshowott So you trust the work of one random person the same amount as the organized, collaborative work of multiple people, even when those multiple people are the best players in the world?
Or maybe I should say this: Smogon is as trustworthy as a random person, right? So when a random person agrees with Smogon, is that the same as two random people agreeing with each other? Does that make them twice as trustworthy as one random person? If yes, then I am that second random person who agrees with Smogon, and you should trust us twice as much as you should trust the one person who disagreed.
Yes I would trust the random person as much as Smogon
I think the people that make Smogon moveset have no creativity let's just cut to the chase to avoid further arguing I don't like Smogon movesets and also if the majority like it than i will look into it I also don't appreciate that I'm under Fire for not liking Smogon sets and that they're not very creative
No comment here ever broke a rule, so why are they getting flagged?
The question asked for GOOD movesets, not creative ones. Don't answer with your creative movesets if the question didn't ask for them.
Exactly. The Smogon movesets are good. I am another random person who agrees with their movesets.

Actually, both are pretty bad. They are extremely slow, and water-ice is a terrible defensive typing because it is weak to 4 types, including Stealth Rock, but only 2 resistances- itself. You could argue that it is a decent offensive typing, but Cloyster is a way better Pokémon at that, as it has access to Shell Smash and a better ability in Skill Link.

Cloyster @ Life Orb/Waterium-Z/Focus Sash
Ability: Skill Link
Nature: Naive/Naughty
EVs: 252 Spe, 252 Atk, 4 SpA
-Shell Smash
-Icicle Spear
-Hydro Pump/Liquidation
-Ice Shard/Rock Blast

What is better between the Pokémon you mentioned? I think Lapras would be slightly better in this case. Unlike Walrein, Lapras has access to Freeze Dry, allowing to somewhat check Water types. Its Water Absorb ability compliments this further.

Choice Specs Lapras is best as it allows it to wallbreak.

Lapras @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 SpA, 120 HP, 136 SpD
-Freeze Dry
-Ice Beam
-Hydro Pump
-Hidden Power Fire

Why hydro pump or razor shell when you can use liquidation? I also think focus sash and waterium Z are both better items, and explosion isn't good anymore because it's only a little bit stronger than icicle spear.
Whoops. Totally forgot about Liquidation. Also, I got this set from Smogon. I'll fix it...
That's Smogon's RU moveset, right? Just because a set is good in RU doesn't mean it's good everywhere.
True. I was questioning the moveset myself. But if it’s good in RU, it can’t be that bad in Battle Tree, is it? Correct me if I’m wrong, but Explosion can be good for a suicide kill. But I did replace it with Ice Shard so no worries. Also, maybe Rock Blast?
According to the BSS usage statistics, rock blast is more common (and probably more important) than liquidation. I would think BSS is more similar to the Battle Tree, so I looked up stats there.
