I tried to soft reset to hatch a shiny and when I accepted my egg outcome I got another egg from the lady?

After I read the answer for dog resetting eggs and took the kitten from my egg I went to the egg lady to see how my Pokemon was doing and she gave me another egg. Why is that

After a certain amount of steps, an egg will appear. That's why there was another egg. Hope that explains it.

Oh and, eggs have a certain modifier per egg so if you SR for an egg and it's not shiny, it will never be shiny no matter how much you SR.
