Why can't I breed my hariyama with my ditto?

I've tried every thing to breed my hariyama and it's not because of what that man outside says, all he says is that they don't like each other very much.

Your Pokémon will still breed with one another, even if they don't like each other. The daycare person would say "The two prefer to play with other Pokémon than with each other" if they couldn't breed. So just walk around for a while until they make an egg.

I know that they can breed but they won't lay an egg. I've walked round about half of the reigon.
