Why does Pokemon Blue say my Pokemon are wild Pokemon?

I was battling with Ivysaur and Butterfree used sleep powder or something and it said the wild Ivysaur avoided the attack what's going on here

I am 99.9% sure that it is a glitch, unless you tempered with your game and uhh... nevermind.

If you were doing a double battle, you might have misclicked? it is a possibility.

I'm almost certain that double battles didn't exist in Gen 1.
