I am about to EV train my Pyukumuku, and was wondering which spread would make it bulkier:

  • 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Sp Def

OR

  • 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 Sp Def

Also, when EV training a Pokémon to be bulky, is there a general rule of thumb regarding HP, Def and Sp Def investment? What I mean is in what instances would you invest more in HP over Def or Sp Def and vice versa?

The general rule of thumb is always HP before defense investment, with the exception being a massive HP stat (Snorlax, Chansey, ect). For Pyukumuku, I would recommend 252 HP / 252 Def. Smogon recommends 28 SpD (taken out of defense), which lets it survive two Energy Balls from Modest Manaphy apparently, so you can give that a shot if you want.
