Golem-Alola @ Air Balloon
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rock Blast /Stone Edge
- Double-Edge /Return
- Earthquake
- Autotomize

Air Balloon gives you temporary safety from those x4 Super Effective Ground-type Moves, allowing you to set up an Autotomize. Rock Blast is for if you want to break through Sturdy & Focus Sash Pokemon, while Stone Edge is just plain powerful. Double-Edge & Return are your Electric STAB thanks to Galvanize, while Earthquake is coverage.

Why Autotomize? I prefer Rock Polish because it doesn't increase or decrease your weight. If your weight gets decreased, Heavy Slam will do more damage to you. That's why.
Because many more Pokemon get Grass Knot & Low Kick than Heavy Slam. Besides, the only Pokemon that get Heavy Slam and are a major threat to this set are Golurk, Mudsdale, Dhelmise, Guzzlord, Donphan, & Steelix. That's why.

Alolan Golem
Golem-Alola (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Return / Explosion
- Rock Slide
- Stealth Rock / Explosion

We've all seen what Kanto Golem. But have you seen what ALOLAN Golem can do?

For one thing, it's ability Galvanize allows it to abuse Return. If you do not know what I mean then max Return base power: 102, but with Galvanize it becomes 122.4 -- that's basically as strong as Solar Beam without the need to charge! Stealth Rock is just well, for the sake of using stealth rock, which it can use because of its bulk. Rock Slide for STAB, and Earthquake because why not. Unfortunately, even with these things, it can easily be countered due to its low speed and bad typing which causes other earthquake users to KO it even with physical bulk. Explosion for last resort, plus: 250 * 1.2 = 300 Base Power!

You did the math wrong. 300 base power. Though combined with STAB gets ya 450.
First of all, what was I thinking? Second, how has no one noticed 'till now?
I really liked this deck.I mean Earthquake needs no reason to be there. And return,if u have max friendship it is a beast. And to boost it with galvanize is amazing.Although u could go Stealth Rock first move and then go Explosion when things are getting tough. But that would but that would leave leftovers with no reason. So u could use the air balloon to block out those super effective Ground type moves.Personally I would use golem as a lead.

Golem-Alola @ Focus Sash
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Return
- Stone Edge
- Explosion

Stealth Rock is used to pressure Flying-, Bug-, and Fire-types such as Mantine, Armaldo, and Mega Charizard Y.
Return is Alolan Golem's reliable Electric-type attack, which allows it to hit Water- and Flying-types such as Tapu Fini and Skarmory.
Stone Edge allows Alolan Golem to hit Fire-, Flying-, and Bug-types such as Alolan Marowak, Zapdos, and Volcarona.
Explosion is a powerful Electric-type move that deals massive damage while causing Alolan Golem to faint. It enables Alolan Golem to maintain Stealth Rock against slow Rapid Spin and Defog users.
Earthquake can be used over Explosion to hit Electric-types such as Lanturn and Magnezone.

Or

Golem-Alola @ Leftovers
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 248 HP / 56 SpD / 204 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Return
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

Stealth Rock allows Alolan Golem to pressure Bug-, Fire-, Ice-, and Flying-types such as Armaldo, Mega Charizard Y, and Kyurem-B.
Return is Alolan Golem's STAB Electric-type attack, which allows it to hit Flying- and Water-types such as Skarmory and Tapu Fini.
Stone Edge hits Bug-, Fire-, and Ice-types such as Armaldo, Volcarona, and Kyurem-B.
Earthquake hits Electric-types such as Magnezone and Lanturn.

Gen 7 ZU / PU / OU

Golem-Alola @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature

  • Stone Edge
  • Wild Charge
  • Earthquake
  • Fire Punch

Stone Edge is powerful STAB with a high critical hit rate, although the accuracy is something you might want to watch out for. Wild Charge is Electric type STAB and covers Water types. With Magnet Pull, Alolan Golem can trap Steel types and can Earthquake them. Fire Punch melts the Steel types that aren't weak to Earthquake (Bronzor in ZU, Alolan Sandslash in PU (Alolan Sandslash is weak to Earthquake, however Fire Punch does more), Ferrothorn in OU).

Special Alolan Golem

Golem-Alola @ Zoom Lens / Choice Specs
Ability: Sturdy / Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature (+SpA, -Spe)
IVs: 0 Spe
- Thunder / Thunderbolt
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Focus Blast / Volt Switch

Zoom Lens is best used with Thunder and Focus Blast, while Choice Specs works better with the more reliable Thunderbolt and Volt Switch. Sturdy lets you live an attack while Magnet Pull lets you hit Steel-types with a strong Fire Blast. Thunder/Thunderbolt is STAB. Earth Power and Fire Blast are good coverage. Focus Blast is strong but inaccurate and Volt Switch allows you to get a switch in with damage. Both Zoom Lens and Volt Switch benefit from Quiet Nature and 0 Speed IVs. Beware Ground-types.

Stealth Rock Lead (Gen 7)

Golem-Alola @ Rockium Z / Air Balloon
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Return
- Explosion

Honestly, it annoys me to see how overlooked this Pokemon is. Alolan Golem has a unique ability in Galvanize, and it also has access to both Stealth Rock and Explosion. With Galvanize, Explosion becomes a 425 BP STAB move! Stealth Rock can be used to make Golem an entry hazard setter. Stone Edge is Alolan Golem's best Rock-type STAB move, and with a Rockium Z, it becomes an insane 180 BP move. Return is also a STAB move powered up by Galvanize. An Air Balloon is also an option to prevent Alolan Golem from getting OHKO'd.

Gen 7 ZU / PU

Golem-Alola @ Choice Band / Life Orb
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

  • Stone Edge
  • Return
  • Explosion
  • Earthquake / Fire Punch

Stone Edge is Rock type STAB. Return is a Normal type move, but with Galvanize it becomes Electric type, giving it a STAB boost plus the additional 20% boost. Explosion is an absolutely devastating STAB move that easily destroys even resists. Earthquake or Fire Punch are used for coverage.

Gen 7 PU / ZU

Golem-Alola @ Focus Sash
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Autotomize
- Earthquake
- Flail
- Return

Automize is to boost your speed. Focus Sash is to help you get an Automize in. Earthquake is for coverage. Flail is STAB that is boosted by Galvanize, and when bought down to your sash, can have a 200 BP without any drawbacks. Return is secondary STAB that can be used if you're not bought down to your sash.

Gen 9 NU IronPress Steel Trapper

Golem-Alola @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 20 SpD / 84 Spe
Impish Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Rock Blast
- Rest / Stealth Rock

With access to Tera and Body Press, Alolan Golem has a niche as a Steel trapper using a defensive IronPress set in Gen 9 NU. Iron Defense boosts Alolan Golem's defense to make it harder for physical wallbreakers to break past it. Body Press not only takes advantage of the boosts from Iron Defense, but it also allows Alolan-Golem to hit Steel-types such as Copperajah, Orthworm, and Magneton super effectively and hits Bronzong for nuetral damage. Rock Blast is used for the Rock STAB that allows Alolan-Golem to hit Salazzle, Flying-types such as Altaria, Galarian Articuno, and Scyther super effectively and hits Ghost-types such as Decidueye, Mismagius, and Hoopa for nuetral damage. Rest lets Alolan Golem recover HP and can be useful if used while trapping a Steel-type or when Pokemon can't do much to Alolan Golem. Stealth Rock can be used if you use this set on a team that doesn't have a Stealth Rock setter. Leftovers is used to give Alolan Golem some HP recovery. Magnet Pull is the Ability to let Alolan Golem trap Steel-types. Tera Water gives Alolan Golem a nice defensive typing that can still let it check Salazzle.

84 Speed EVs allow Alolan Golem to outspeed up to base 55 Pokemon such as Dudunsparce, Piloswine, and Arboliva. 252 HP EVs with 20 Special Defense EVs allow Alolan Golem to comfortably tank Salazzle and Jolteon's unboosted attacks and avoid the 3HKO from Bronzong's Psychic. The remaining EVs are used in Defense with an Impish Nature to help tank physical attacks more easily.
