Are Power Items needed after your Pokemon are done EV training?

Do your Pokemon still need the Power Items on after you've finished EV training them? Do you have to keep this held item on them as you level up to 100?

If your Pokemon has gained the maximum number of EVs it can obtain (i.e. 510 EVs), then there's no reason for it to hold the Power Items since it can't gain EVs. It would only detriment your Pokemon since Power Items halve its Speed stat during battle, so don't bother giving Power Items to Pokemon with maxed out EVs.
