How is Blastoise known as the shellfish Pokemon?

I know it says that Blastoise is the shellfish Pokemon, but how? It's name origin is blast and tortoise. Plus, it really looks like a tortoise, so can you guys help me out?

I didn't know that...that is really weird... anyway, upon investigation, it looks like Blastoise is known as the Shell Pokemon in Japan, so chances are this was a mistake or sloppy work from the English translators.
