Mega evolve Charizard to X or Y?

Question

I think it would be nice to be able to change Charizard into a dragon type to avoid water and electric types. I also think that using the weather might also give my opponent and advantage. but I also have a Whimsicott on my team with solar power that I can use for coverage. X or Y Mega?

Mega evolve into Charizard Y. Though it's still 4 times weak to rock it is a better option megazard X. This is because first of all it's ability, drought. Drought negates Charizard's weakness to water and powers up fire moves considerably. Also, this makes one of Charizard's moves called Solar beam hit instantly which covers all of it's weaknesses. Mega Charizard X has the same base special Attack and Attack which isn't as good as mega Charizard Y's 159 special attack, charizard has a better special movepull so this also works in your favour. Charizard Y lets you get more out of a mega evolution than Charizard X overall.

-Flamethrower
-Solar Beam
-Air Slash
-Dragon Pulse

Depends. If you need a physical attacker, go with Mega Charizard X. If you need a special attacker. go with Mega Charizard Y. Charizard-Y's ability drought gives it that solar beam usage, and with Charizard-X its ability tough claws allows for a lot of damage with physical attacks. So, go with which ever you need to perfect ypur team. Heres a moveset for both-

Charizard-Y:
Flamethrower
Solar Beam
Air Slash
Ancient Power

Charizard X:
Flare Blitz
Dragon Dance
Dragon Claw
Thunder Punch

Remember their stats. Mega Charizard X has 78 HP, 130 Attack and Sp. Attack, 111 Defense, 85 Sp. Defense and 100 Speed. Mega Charizard Y has same 78 HP, 104 Attack, 78 Defense, 159 Sp. Attack, 115 Sp. Defense
and 100 Speed. Both of them have a total stat of 634. Mega Charizard X has same offense stats, but due to Tough Claws, its Physical Moves will receive a boost. Mega Charizard Y's Drought ability will remove its Water type disadvantage and boost its Fire-Type move by half. Now types. Mega Charizard X becomes Fire/Dragon type so, it will take normal damage from water-type moves, now 2x damage from Rock-type, Dragon-Type and Ground-type moves. It takes half or 1/2 damage from Bug, Steel and Electric type moves, 1/4 damage from Grass and Fire type moves. Mega Charizard Y will take normal damage from Water type moves if Drought is in effect. Also, if the opponent uses Thunder, then it will have decreased accuracy.
So, Mega Charizard X is a Physical Attacker with good Sp. Attacker. Y is a Special Attacker. But your team should have Mega Charizard X because Mega Charizard Y' s 4x Rock type disadvantage and low Defense will make it go down easily.
