Inkay Evolution in oras?

Question

Ok, I know how to evolve inkay, I've done that much reaserch (flip upside down at lvl 30)

I got traded a inkay on Omega Ruby, and want to use Malamar. I now have a level 45 inkay, and at each time I have flipped my 3ds upside down (new xl 3ds).

I have tried leveling up with rare candies, double battles, and wild encounters.

Does this feature work on oras, or am I wasting my time with what shall forever be inkay?

Maybe you're not holding it for long enough? Try holding it for the entire battle, or even before to make sure.

Yes, Inkay does evolve in ORAS when you hold the 3DS upside down. As said in the comments above, you should try these things:

Thanks, it turned out I miss- interpreted  what upside down is lol. For anyone else with the 'issue', rotate the display face 180°,  so that everything appears upside down.

To think, I spent so much time looking at the back of my 3ds :(
