Why wont my Blue and Silver Versions connect?

I'm trying to make the time capsule on Silver work, but whenever I try to connect my games, I keep on getting the message on Silver: "Your friend is not ready." And Blue says: "Connection was timed out due to inactivity." When I make them start the connection at the same time.

I have made sure that none on my gen 1 Pokemon on Silver know moves from gen 2, so what is wrong?

idk, but are they from different regions? EUR and US?

You can only trade with the original GB Link cable. If you are connected via link cable and it is giving you this message, you are probably using GBA.

Other reasons may include a broken cable.

Oh, I see! Thanks for clearing that up. I'll be getting myself a GBC cable soon enough then :)
