How does Ash have seven Pokemon with him?

Question

Currently in the anime, Pokemon: Black and White, how does Ash have seven pokemon with him in his party. He has Pikachu, Oshawott, Tepig, Snivy, Tranquil, Scraggy, and Swadloon. Did I miss something or does one of them not count?

He doesn't. One of those Pokemon is with Prof. Juniper, he just switches out his Pokemon every now and then.

In terms of having only six Pokemon it is. Look at when he caught Sedaddle (or whatever) and also with Krabby.
