Do you need to trade event Diancie to OR/AS to get the Diancite?

Question

Because apparently you need to trade the event Diancie to OR/AS from X or Y to get it's mega stone. But could you use Pokemon bank instead? And when you recieve it, is it just holding the stone, or does something happen?

You must trade Diancie over from XY.

You can trade it over with Pokemon Bank
Have a Diancie in your party and enter the nearest Pokemon Center. These people will appear after you go in.
