Pokémon route designs?

Recently I was asked about whether the routes in the anime looked the same as the game,and I explained to them the episode where Ash finds a Mankey who takes his hat in Season one.Which episode is that and where in the Kan to region does it take place?
I know the route in this episode reminds me of deserts and canyons.

It was Episode 025 (Primeape Goes Bananas).

Since it took place in the episode after Ash bet Sabrina, he had left Saffron City. In the next episode he is in Celadon City. So this particular episode presumably takes place on Route 7, which is the one going between Saffron and Celadon cities.
