How do you alter a Pokemon's ability before mega evolution on Pokemon Showdown?

I recently built a team with Mega-Houndoom on it, and I want its ability to be Flash Fire before mega evolving, but it is automatically Early Bird. Is there a way to change this?

You have to click on on houndoom first and not pick mega houndoom, you pick houndoom and you should be able to change its ability,make it hold hounmdmite and you will be able to mega evovle it in battle.

When i select mega houndoom, it just shows its mega evolution ability
