What is going on with my HeartGold?

I got Pokémon HeartGold from Amazon and I have never played Gold before and a bunch of weird stuff is happening - Ethan is dead and it's super creepy, my Chikorita wants me to die and it won't let me start a new game.
I don't think this is normal, can anyone help?

Your Pokemon Hearh Gold is a hacked one.
This has happened before, people played a hacked version of old Pokemon games and they had that kind of weird stuff happening. that means you're actually living a creepy pasta story.
