PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I've noticed that some Pokémon (such as Wynaut) have names that represent common words or phrases people use and would like to know what all of them are. A couple things to note:

  • Animal names don't count
  • Partial words can count too (i.e. Onix-pected, Absol-utely, etc.)
  • EDIT: puns that don't use the entire word (like Mamos-whine and Weep-inbell) don't count either; I'm sorry I forgot to mention that.

Thanks to anyone willing to help!

Answering all of them would take lots of time.

There are 2 swellows
Fixed.
Dang I think I more than doubled the list.
Also, please note several of those like Deerling and Meditite are puns in theory. I haven't used some of the above ones before, so I'm not sure how they work out. I've used most of them though. Don't for what purpose.
Can someone edit out all the puns that don't use the entire word?  That would be great.
When I saw Abra I was like wut 0_0

Even though it's been years, but I think still people searching puns on Pokemon can help from it.

Here are the some of Pokemon with pun in their names.

  • Wynaut - "Why not?"
  • Farfetch'd - "Far-fetched"
  • Gengar - "Doppelgänger"
  • Koffing - "Coughing"
  • Muk "Kum" (reversed, Japanese for "muck")
  • Ekans - "Snake" (spelled backward)
  • Arbok "Kobra" (spelled backward)
  • Krabby - "Crabby"
  • Kingler - "King" and "angler"
  • Seel - "Seal"
  • Dewgong - "Dew" and "dugong"
  • Ditto - "Ditto" (same)
  • Porygon - "Polygon"
  • Snorlax - "Snore" and "relax"
  • Jynx - "Jinx"
  • Mareep - "Mary" and "sheep"
  • Ampharos - "Amphora" and "pharos"
  • Wooper - "Wooper looper"
  • Quagsire - "Quagmire" and "sire"
  • Espeon - "ESP" and "-eon"
  • Umbreon - "Umbre" and "-eon"
  • Slugma - "Slug" and "magma"
  • Houndoom - "Hound" and "doom"
  • Hitmonlee - Bruce Lee
  • Hitmonchan - Jackie Chan
  • Luvdisc - "Love" and "disc"
  • Wobbuffet - "Wobble" and "buffet"
  • Roselia - "Rose" and "azalea"
  • Swablu - "Swab" and "blue"
  • Volbeat - "Vol" (fly) and "beat"
  • Illumise - "Illuminate" and "muse"
  • Gulpin - "Gulp"
  • Spoink - "Spring" and "oink"
  • Whismur - "Whisper" and "murmur"
  • Throh - "Throw"

Not 100% my contribution. Used this pun generator to type in the Pokemon name and selected the option "word mix" and "names." So, I guess anybody can do that now.
