PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I've been looking for a Pokemon that can take hits, and haven't had much luck. Something among the level of, let's say, a Blissey, stats-wise, only defensively instead of special defense. Any suggestions?

Are you playing in a certain tier?
Sir Dan, I'm just trying to find a team to beat my friend, as he uses a tier OU pokemon team, and essentially prove to him I'm the better trainer.
Ah okay fair enough, well I listed a bunch of Defensive Pokémon you could use that's in OU so take your pick from their I guess :3

I'm not sure if you're playing in a particular tier or not but your tag says "xy" so I'll assume this is in game, however I'll list a variety of Defensive Pokémon in Ubers and OU which are also the most commonly used Defensive Pokémon. If you do happen to be playing in a tier if you let me know and it's not Ubers or OU, then I'll list the Defensive Pokémon in the tier you're playing in.

Ubers

Arceus Steel
Aegislash
Bronzong
Deoxys-D
Dialga
Ferrothorn
Forretress
Giratina
Gliscor
Groudon
Lugia (Better Specially Defensive)
Skarmory

OU

Aegislash
Bronzong
Bulky Dragonite
Chesnaught
Conkeldurr
Cresselia
Ferrothorn
Forretress
Gliscor
Hippowdon
Mandibuzz
Mega Aggron
Mega Venusaur
Mew
Rotom-W
Scizor/Mega Scizor
Skarmory
Slowbro
Suicune
Tyranitar/Mega Tyranitar
Quagsire
Umbreon
Zapdos

7/12 are steel types in uber....
Because Steel has the most resistances, a pure Steel type has 1 immunity and 10 resistances. Besides it's not really a bad thing when Xerneas is running ramped in Ubers. But I suppose you could also use Tyranitar, Mega Tyranitar, Mega Venusaur, Landorus-T or another Arceus type.
I was just commenting how good steel types are :P

Mega Aggron

enter image description here

Highest Defense stat in the game and a great ability for it, Filter makes every super effective attack do x0.75 damage making it alot harder to take down.
Here's a moveset:

Aggron @ Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Iron Head
- Brick Break

Mega Venusaur.

enter image description here
Incredibly bulky with 123Def and 120SpD and plenty of HP to back those stats up, it can stall for days.
Here's a moveset:

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Synthesis
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Giga Drain

Some of the best defensive physical walls are Skarmory, Mandibuzz and Gliscor.
They have very good defenses and skarmory and gliscor can set up rocks as well as get rid of them. While mandibuzz can get rid of rocks but has better special defense than the other 2.

Gliscor

Gliscor is perhaps more annoying due to it's ability, you can heal around 24% in 2 turns by using protect on the second turn.Gliscor does have a disadvantage when it comes to typing by having 4x weakness to ice. But it tanks a physical ice punch from most Pokemon when at full HP (not that you should stay in an ice punch if you predict one). But special hits cripple gliscor as well.

Skarmory

Skarmory is a steel type providing tons of resistances and only fire and electric as it's weakness, stay clear of this and you're fine.

Mandibuzz

Mandibuzz is really useful to switch into Pokemon who have set up 1 swords dance/Dragon dance etc and foul play nearly always kills them. And you can phase out other Pokemon who try to set up by whirlwinding as well. Mandibuzz has good HP and good defenses making her a good wall. It's also weakness to fairy, electric, ice and rock.

These are 3 good defensive Pokemon in OU.

Hope I helped :)

I am not sure what tier you are asking for, but out of all Pokemon Giratina has got to be the best Pokemon to fit this description.

As for non-uber Pokemon, I would say Skarmory is an amazing physical wall. Two other ones include Gliscor and Ferrothorn.

All of these do really well as physical walls.
