Why isn't Parental bond working?

Question

I'm fighting in horde battles against Geodudes, I use earthquake and some of the Geodudes faint, the others survive with sturdy, naturally the second hit should kill the remaining Geodudes but for some reason the second attack never happens and it just skips to the Geodudes attacking me. What is happening?

moves that hit multiple targets such as Earthquake and Rock Slide will
not hit twice in Double, Triple, or Horde Battles.

This is the reason why in Single battles is when Earthquake is 2 strike

thanks, I was really confused as to why it wasn't working but I guess I overlooked the possibility  that it worked different in double battles. And yes, it toke me 5 days to come back to this question, shut up.
