What to do if I lead off with Ferrothorn and they lead off with a fire type?

I always freak out when I lead off with my Ferrothorn and then someone leads off with a Charizard ready to mega evolve and wreck it with a fire blast or flare blitz.

Switch to something that resists Fire type attacks, like Rotom-Wash, or is immune to them, like Heatran.
