Same typing, but which is better overall? Ok, Medicham has a mega but forget the Mega for now, which one is better in their original form?

Damn i'm too tried / ill to answer this now ;~; if i don't like the answer that's given tomorrow I'll answer it then
Medicham gets huge power
It'll help to answer your question if you'd post what your current team is as well. =)
definately Gallade. Medicham may have a mega (which is beaten by so many other non-megas) but Gallade  has stronger stats + he now has a mega thanks to ORAS

feel free to add stuff josh.

first: look at this picture

ballade vs medichan

lets take a quick lock
enter image description here

as you can see, theres huge differences in these pokés stats. ballade has high 125 base attack, and a interesting 115 sp.def, while medichan has much lower attack and lower stats overall. then if we look at the movepool: medichan learns some useful moves like elemental punches, high jump kick, stab, coverage blah blah blah, while gallade has a movepool of whopping 88 moves giving it the hugest move pool after mew, smeargle and arceus I thjnk. it has some really useful STABS with close combat and phsycho cut + many nice supporting moves including thunder wave, will'o and encore to sum up.

if we look at the text above, will ballade seem like the superior choice. however, the trick lies in medichans ability: pure power, doubling its attack stat. you might think, "o well, 120 compared to 125. I'm still using ballade. buuut pure power doesn't double base stat, but the actually attack giving it 480 attack at max with a positive nature. this is only bypassed by deoxys-a (if we choose to not include metas). this makes medichan an extremely useful revenge killer (low defense stat unables it to take a hit) with a choice scarf equipped.
lets look at the pros and cons with everything we have now:

ballade:

enter image description here
pros

  • 518 base stats
  • very high 125 base attack
  • good move pool
  • its low speed is fixed with its ability, making it very useful if opposing a fake out'er (justified is great too)

cons

  • low speed
  • much lower attack than pure power medichan

medichan

enter image description here
pros

  • pure power, pure power, pure power
  • makes good use of the scarf, making it one of the best revenge killer
    in lower tiers
  • its mega is one of the best with 100 base attack boosted by pure
    power

cons

  • crappy stats (this covers almost everything)
  • its low defense and speed makes it only viable as scarfed revenge killer

the choice

you might hate this, but it depends on what you want. ballade is safer with better defensive stats and good moves. medichan is more yolo. definition of glass canon, unable to take a hit but hard to stop if it has start with the sweep. I prefer gallade with more well rounded stats, but its many opinions. let me give you some sets:

Medicham @ Choice Scarf
enter image description here
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Psycho Cut
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch

Ballade (M) @ Lum Berry
enter image description here
Ability: your choice, prefer justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Night Slash/ shadow sneak
- Psycho Cut/ shadow sneak

its always three answers on these questions :P
I so wish I was expert, you need all of the reformatting :P
AND IT IS GALLADE, NOT BALLADE.
yeah, i typed everything on my phone + i suck at english :P for ballade: stupid autocorrect, there nothing i can do xD
but i like ballade, so i am going to edit it in
Great answer, but you might have a few too many sprites (Images) In there though. Just Fyi.

Also, Medicharm > Gallade ^.^
Medicharm has its pros and cons, its the same for ballade. Its opinion based, and depends on the roles. Medicham is a good pokemon to of course.

Can someone tell me if you says "too" or "to"? :D
Lol sure. It's"too" in that situation.
You add an extra "o" if you want to emphasize excessive use of something.  In this case, Sprites! <(^.^<) ^(^.^)^ (>^.^)>
When I saw Ballade, at first I was like, that's gotta be a mistake but then I thought he wanted to say that it's got balls XD
Ballade its a kind of dance i think
Classical music. But close enough
Ballet is a kind of dance, Baroque is music
That sounds like a very odd drink, Ball-ade XD

Gallade versus Mechicham!

Both Pokemon can be important parts of a team, but it really depends on its teammates to decide which Pokemon is better for you.

Base Stats

Gallade's base stats are higher overall, boiling down to a total of 518 versus 410.

Offensive Stats

Gallade's Attack stat is over double Medicham's at base 125 versus 60. However, Medicham's Ability choice is very important to the effectiveness of its physical moves. Gallade was designed to be a dominantly physical attacker, while Medicham can play the role of special or physical sweeper, as its typing suggests. However, Gallade's Special Attack also beats out Medicham's at 65 versus 60. Gallade's neutrally-damaging moves will be more powerful than Medicham's. Gallade and Medicham are tied up at 80 for base Speed, making them both equally suited to running fast sets.

Defensive Stats

Neither Gallade nor Medicham have exceptionally impressive bulk. Gallade's HP is 8 points above Medicham's at 68 versus 60, but Medicham's Defense is greater at 75 versus 65. Gallade's Special Defense trumps Medicham's at an impressive 115 versus 75 (however, this high Special Defense stat is less than useful with base HP of 68). Neither Gallade nor Medicham are well-suited for resisting a particular type or tanking.

Gallade and Medicham's offensive potential depends largely on the moveset you would be using, so read up on their movepools below.

Movepools

Many players appreciate Medicham for its notably diverse movepool, which makes it difficult for any Pokemon to resist Medicham. Medicham's physical movepool includes Fire Punch, Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, High Jump Kick, Drain Punch, Psyshock, Psycho Cut, and Bullet Punch. This type diversity causes most players to choose a physical Medicham. Physical Medicham makes an excellent addition to a team for type coverage, making it very popular. Special Medicham's movepool is less impressive, including Psychic, Focus Blast, and Shadow Ball. If you are choosing between these Pokemon for complete type coverage, Medicham would likely suit your team better.

Gallade's physical movepool is not quite as diverse as Medicham's, but its higher base Attack means that its moves will hit harder (if Medicham can't land a supereffective move on everything it fights). Gallade's still impressive physical movepool includes Leaf Blade, Close Combat, Night Slash, Fury Cutter, Stone Edge, Psycho Cut, and much more. Gallade's movepool is large enough to help it cover for all of its weaknesses with Stone Edge for Flying-types, Poison Jab for Fairy-types, and Night Slash for Ghost-types. Gallade's special movepool is smaller and less effective than its physical movepool, including Psychic, Thunderbolt, and Shadow Ball. Due to its smaller special base stat and smaller special movepool, a special Gallade is not recommended. If you are choosing between these Pokemon for something that hits hard and can take care of its weaknesses, Gallade is a good choice.

Abilities

Medicham's standard Ability is Pure Power, which doubles its base 60 Attack stat to 120, which is almost as high as Gallade's! This makes up for its low base stat and makes it even more viable as an option for type coverage. Its Hidden Ability, Telepathy, is only useful when playing battles with more than one teammate on the field, making Pure Power a much better choice (even in a double/triple/rotation battle).

Gallade's Ability, Steadfast, causes it to get a Speed boost when it flinches, which can be useful, but only in certain situations. Its Hidden Ability, Justified, boosts its Attack when it is hit by a Dark-type move. If you play with good prediction, this can be a useful ability.

Medicham and Gallade can both make good teammates, but choose the one that suits your team best!

That's not even how pure power works, it doubles the attack stat meaning if both pokemon had max attack, medicham would have an attack higher than groudon. Everything else about medicham sucks and it's attack is the only reason it's good...
I made a slight error with my technicality with explaining Pure Power, but I referred more to the base Atk as in before any stat changes are applied. Also, I never said I preferred Medicham.

Base stats:

Medicham is nothing to write home about without its mega stone. Its highest base stat is its speed (80), and its lowest is a tie between HP, attack, and special attack (60). And for a Pokemon, what's a good speed if you can't dish out attacks?

Many of Gallade's base stats aren't that incredible either, but it does have a base attack of 125. That's more than Medicham's base attack and special attack combined. Its speed is also decent (80), so it would make a pretty nice sweeper. Its base special defense is pretty high, too (115), so it'd also make a great surprise special tank.

Movepool:

Both Medicham and Gallade have a fair amount of both physical attacks and special attacks at their disposal. Since Medicham's base attack and special attack are equal, you can choose either attack or special attack as his main offensive power, and it won't make much of a difference. Gallade isn't as versatile as Medicham, but with an attack like his, who would give him too many special attacks?

So, yeah, Gallade is better than Medicham. Unless you throw in the mega, of course, but as you said, we're disregarding that.

Here's a nice Gallade for you, by the way:

Nature: Adamant
Ability: Steadfast/Justified (either would work)
Item: Scope Lens
EVs: 252 Atk,252 Spd,4 Hp/Sp. Def
Movepool:
Psycho Cut
Night Slash
Stone Edge
Swords Dance/Leaf Blade

Hope I helped!

I don't know why this is downvoted. I see nothing wrong so I'm gonna up vote.
I demand to know who downvoted this.
TROLLOLOL
dude, what you said would be right, except you didn't mention Medicham's ability. It's ability doubles it's attack. Not the base stat, the actual attack. with this ability, it gets amazing strength.
