Best plan for gender farming Bulbasaur?

I'm gender farming Bulbasaur at the moment. My question is, does the Bulbasaur you fight when battling Prof. Sycamore always have the same gender as the one you pick? The reason I ask is that its a pain to fight all three pokes and THEN pick a poke in hope of getting a female.

I think so both his and my blastoise were female at the same time, and it's only about a 1/8 chance. Also if you have wifi and can get the torchic event before battling him that should make it easier. Also there are dittos near the last gym if you don't end up getting a female
