Would Tenacool Be a Good choice in NU?

For Rapid Spin, I hate using Armaldo because he's weak to rox so it does quite a bit when I witch him in

You could definitely use it if you want. Personally, I see nothing wrong with it that isn't a problem for all Eviolite users, other than its typing. It has a weakness to Ground, Electric, and Psychic type moves, all very common in NU. But it makes up with its resistances to Fighting and Water, which give it plenty of opportunities to come in and Spin.

Anyways, it has a awesome special defense, with a max of 492. But unfortunately, it has a not-so-good base 35 defense, that only reaches 277.5, allowing most neutral physical hits to destroy it with ease.

So it's up to you, Personally I think it could be OK, but look over the pros and cons yourself and make a decision.

I wouldn't use Staryu tbh, most eviolite user in all tiers except LC should be walls due to their pathetic offensive stats. And a defensive set isn't really viable on Staryu. :)

NU has several decent spinners, and Tentacool is one of them.

I think this is a fairly standard Tenacool set. It already has very high Special Defence for an unevolved Pokemon, but this is boosted even higher with the Eviolite. Its Defence is a lot lower, but again the Eviolite helps. Knock Off is to cripple the various Eviolite users in the tier. Toxic Spikes allows its to set up its own entry hazards, although Toxic can be used instead. Scald stops it being taunted, as well as stopping the opponent setting up. The Burn chance is useful for physical opponents as well. Its type allows it to absorb Toxic Spikes without even bothering to Rapid Spin, so that is also a bonus.

So, I think Tentacool is a very good Spinner in NU.
