PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

So, I am making an OU team, and I needed a lead. In case you didn't know, a lead is a Pokémon who, well, starts off the battle. I also want to see leads in other tiers too. I kinda found out a few different types of leads:

Lead
Suicide Lead
Anti-Lead
Weather Lead

And there are way more other leads. When you answer, please give the tier, the Pokemon, the moveset with EVs and items and Nature and all, brief explanation of the it, some good pairings (if possible) and other info we need to know. So, that's enough from me, Get posting DB users!

Never knew about Golem
Golem is one of the most popular leads in NU.

This is one of my favourite suicide leads, but it is UU and I don't know how it would function in OU.
enter image description here
Froslass @ Focus Sash
Trait: Cursed Body
EV's: 252 HP/ 252 Speed/ 4 Sp. Attack
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Att)
Moves:
- Destiny Bond
- Thunder Wave
- Spikes
- Ice Beam

This is how it works. On the first turn use Thunder Wave, unless you are certain you are faster than the opponent. If they take you down to the sash, then use Destiny Bond and hope they don't get para-haxed. If they do get para-haxed, then they know what your plan is, but aside from Taunt and inflicting Burn/Poison they can't really do anything about it anyway, but they might try to just set up loads of hazards, which could make your life very difficult (I know that from experience!).
If they didn't use an attack, or didn't do that much damage, then feel free to set up Spikes or use Ice Beam. Ice Beam also prevents you from taunted.
Also, Cursed Body can really annoy the opponent, especially if they have a Choice item, but don't rely on it, as it is undependable in when it will work.
Its typing also means that Fake Out won't affect it (and therefore won't break the sash).

Froslass is banned from UU, and is now in BL
Really? It's still UU on Showdown. I suppose they haven't updated it yet, then. I suppose that means it can work in OU at least.

Infernape @ Focus Sash

enter image description here

Trait: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SAtk
Naive Nature

  • Fake Out
  • Stealth Rock
  • Overheat
  • Close Combat

Your run of the mill anti-lead Infernape.
Fake Out breaks Focus Sashes of any SR leads and the Sturdy of Skarmory and Forretress, two common OU leads, and doesn't activate the Custap Berry. Stealth Rock is your own form of hazards and is almost a guaranteed set up with the Focus Sash. It will help any sweeper net more KOs and will break sashes once Infernape faints. Overheat is a reliable way is dispatch lead Steel types, such as Skarmory, Forretress, and Ferrothorn. It will also hit any Pokemon neutral to it surprisingly hard with only 4 EVs of investment. Close Combat is a secondary STAB providing good coverage, and makes it more than an anti-lead, also a deadly sweeper.

Funny thing was, I was using this already
Pretty sure Lefties heal off all damage off from fake out on Skarm and Forre :P
I was talking about Custap leads. Sorry if I didn't specify that.

Yay more azelf c:
Azelf @ Light Clay
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
~ Reflect
~ Light Screen
~ Taunt
~ Explosion

Your Dual Screen Azelf with explosion :3 - Suicide Dual Screen Lead. Yeah I'm wierd, kill me.
It's a one time off Dual Screen, because of Explosion so it should only really be used if you just want one main sweeper to get setup, or if you have backup dual screeners. Obviously you need Reflect and Light screen, with Light Clay to extend that time. Taunt is to troll the annoying little Pokemon with Stealth Rock everywhere, and Explosion is just to end it with a bang and a boom. You can also run U-turn over Explosion or something, if you want Azelf to be a more sustainable Dual Screener.

Hmm... Never thought of it. BTW the pic creeps me out for some reason
should I change it? :3

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers

enter image description here

*Trait: Levitate*

*EVs: 232 HP / 224 Spd / 52 SAtk*

*Modest Nature*

- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Hydro Pump

Rotom is pretty much a pain in the ass for any team being able to run rings around the opponents team with Volt Switch giving it momentum. It hits just about everything on a rain team excluding Ferrothorn putting more pressure on the opponent to make the obvious switch, possibly costing him the early game. Ferro can be burned on the switch or killed by the unexpected Hidden Power Fire which also hits Breloom, similar to HP Ice. HP Ice may be useful for rendering Garchomp/Dragonite useless but it really appreciates the loss of Ferro early on in the game and it has a WOW to help sponge the hits anyway. The EVs makes it a bulky attacker while also out speeding Jolly Breloom at 262 Spd. Volt Switch is the main move and paired with Hydro Pump it will let us take out threats such as RP Landorus (considering it is not using Gravity) xD

I love that Rotom-W pic xD

Xatu @ Leftovers

enter image description here
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP /252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature

  • Reflect
  • Light Screen
  • Roost
  • Night Shade / Heat Wave / Toxic

Xatu is a nice Pokemon to start of a battle with as it serves as an excellent Magic Bounce lead. It willoften just prevent leads fromdoing their job whiles bouncing back any attempt to cripple it or it's teammates. With the Dual Screens it will make frail Pokemon extremely bulky whiles just making itself all the harder to bring down. Although Xatu has less speed and Special attack compared to Espeon, it can slightly do it a little better seeing as it sports a better bulk compared to it's equal Espeon. Roost is for a nice recovery move that you can nicely use to stall out Pokemon alongside Toxic which will make quick work of pretty much any Pokemon barring the steel and poison types. Heat Wave is also a viable and usually do most preferred option as it will enable you to get rid of common leads as well as Pokemon that seem to form a problem for the majority of the OU tier. Ferrothorn can't do anything against Xatu as it is completely walled by it. For the some damage the only thing Ferrothorn can do is use Gyro ball if it has it. That move will not be as effective as it is with Espeon seeing as Xatu isn't exactly a jet plane. Scizor too finds issues taking Heat Waves and should Xatu be behind the screens, Scizor will most likely get 2HKO'd if not OHKP'd. Night Shade is always a nice option as well as it will not make you completely useless against Heatran and it will enable you to ware it down slowly.

Woah I like it!

Espeon bounce them hazards!

Offense

Espeon @ LIfe Orb
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature Timid
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire
- Signal Beam
- Grass Knot

Dual Screens

Espeon @ Light Clay
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Timid Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Psychic
- Baton Pass

Baton Passer

Espeon @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 Spd / 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Baton Pass
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Espeon has long been relegated to the role of cutest Pokemon in the game, only being used in ultimate cutemon teams. This was in large part due to it being outclassed by other Psychic-types, such as Alakazam and Azelf. However, Dream World has granted Espeon a second chance in its Pokecareer in the form of Magic Bounce. Magic Bounce allows Espeon to act as a team supporter, bouncing back most non-attacking moves, most notably Stealth Rock, Taunt, and Roar. It also has a handy base 110 Speed and an impressive Special Attack, allowing it to outspeed and OHKO potent threats such as Terrakion and Keldeo with ease. Unfortunately for Espeon, its physical bulk is poor, meaning that a single misprediction can result in its death. This is further compounded by the fact that Espeon's main counters—Tyranitar and Scizor—all get a fair amount of usage. Espeon is also largely outclassed by Xatu in a general support role, but still finds a niche setting up screens for hyper offense teams, and acting as the core of all pure Baton Pass teams.

Uxie @ Choice Scarf

Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 Def
Jolly Nature

  • U-Turn
  • Stealth Rock
  • Thunder Wave
  • Trick

As of lately, TrickScarf Uxie has become my favorite lead in RU. Through Tricking the Choice Scarf to other SR leads and crippling them for the game a lot of the time, it is almost a guaranteed set up. Another added bonus to the Choice Scarf is that it is fast enough to avoid most Taunts, which helps a lot to get Rocks up.

U-Turn is the only attack on this set. When you lead off and the match is not favorable, simply U-Turn out into a counter. It also helps Uxie avoid Pursuit Trappers who would otherwise try to pick it off. Stealth Rock is your basic entry hazards to allow your sweepers to get more KOs. Thunder Wave cripples any fast Pokemon who would give you and your sweepers trouble, and is just a good choice in general when you predict a switch (and don't see a Pursuit Trapper coming :P). Trick is the crux of the set, crippling any other SR leads, and most likely getting them locked onto SR and giving you a free turn to set up your own.

Really? Wow...
