If a Pokemon flies while holding an Iron Ball, can it still avoid attacks?

Can it use Fly at all?

Yes it can use Fly and it works in the same way. You can't be hit by most moves when up in the air.

The only difference is if you used Lock-On, you can also hit with Ground-type moves.
