Got it!

>Life Orb now boosts Doom Desire's damage, and the user will suffer recoil damage

This was confirmed in the actual Pokemon game by the user Flafpert. So it was a flaw in Showdown that it didn't take Life Orb recoil.

Life Orb boosts all damaging moves, and will deduct HP after a successful attack hits, and so in your case, after however many turns it takes doom desire to hit.
I assume that you know the general trivia, like the boost, and recoil, and such, so I won't elaborate...

It's just how I interpreted it, I might be wrong...

Can you provide a source? Because in the video Once gave it took no recoil whatsoever...

On the turn the move causes damage. It will take 10% of Jirachi's total health. (For example, max hp of 150-159=15 damage with use of Life Orb). Hope that helps.
