Help with finding Heracross in HeartGold?

I just can't find a Heracross in HeartGold, I have tried headbutting many of the trees in Azalea Town and Ilex Forest but no. Is there a certain time when you can find it, or is their a certain tree that has more chance of finding one?

Only a few trees can be headbutted and contain Pokémon. If the tree you headbutted does not have Pokémon appearing, then it will never have. If you find a tree with a Pokemon, keep head butting until you find heracross.

EDIT: I don't think heracross is in ilex forest.

Headbutting along these routes will give you chances to nab a Heracross. And in playing SoulSilver, I got my Heracross on Route 33. It's the closest to that Move Tutor that teaches your PKMN Headbutt (Ilex Forext), so go try there.
