PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I found out this trick to remove weather:
You save the game in the grass where you can catch a Pokémon.
You set the clock to one month later.
After that you load the game and then you catch a Pokémon in the area you saved in.
And…Presto! The weather is gone!
This trick works with all the weather you can't use sweet scent with, and it is not permanent and the weather comes back once you capture a Pokémon or leave the area. After that you must do it again.
I use this trick so I can sweet scent. I would like to know how this trick works. I would like to know so because I wouldn't like to do something I don't understand. And please make the explanation as simple as possible.

Thanks! I appreciate your help.

what weather is gone?
and in what game?
I think it works in all games, but this is black and white. All weather, I believe. I know it works in rain and fog.
oh ok, thanks for the extra info :)
It is very simple, all the season carry different weathers   and  by setting it to one month later the season changes meaning that the weather the season was carrying has gone. But for example when you are in summer and you switch to autumn the chances are very high that it will be raining.

**Seasons with weather effect**
- Summer (neutral)
- Spring ( chance of light rain)
- Autumn ( chance of rain)
- Winter ( chances of hail)

However it isn't recommend to change your time in black/white since it may cost some data to be deleted or edited. Also battling Cynthia may become a little harder and she might recite the text she usually recites after battle making her unavailable for battle in some days in Spring
What about fog in the giant chasm? It is permanent and it doesn't change with the seasons. Also, the season changing message is not displayed This answer doesn't explain it all.
The fog is permanent and can't be removed. And when you normally go one month further, the season changes but not when you just load the game. It changes when you exit a building or if you are outside, you must enter and exit a building ir a cave etc.. before the season changing message is displayed
The trick can remove the giant chasm fog. I tested it. Also, the weather disappears after the battle
I've made it a bit more clear
The fog disappears? I tested it before I answered and the fog is still there after the trick...
Even though the weather is gone I did leave some side-effects to this in my answer. Also you asked how the trick worked and I explained it and the reason why the weather disappears after the weather is because before the trick activates, an event must take place (battling a Pokemon). This counts for the weather changing( you need to esit a location). If you knew how it worked, then why did you ask. I never said it didn't work, I explained how it works, just like you asked....
What about fog? You didn't explain the fog. I don't know how it works, I'm just unsure about your answer.
I'm sorry if I'm annoying. :P
Check my edited question.
tbh, I really don't know about the fog since the fog is still there for me and it has always been there, even after I used the trick. I am guessing that it gets removed just like the 2, but I can really not tell since I haven't experienced the fog fading
I feel stupid. What is tbh? Also, are you trying the trick right? It is supposed to work.
oooooooooh ok
tbh=to be honest
and yes I am trying the trick :)
Wha? (Filler)
Okay. Does it work now?
no, not really but I am guessing it has something to do with my cartridge since it was in my pocket when my trousers were being washed ¬.¬
silly silly jojo...
xD, says Jojo
Haha! Better get that fixed.
yeah xD
Did you find out anything else yet? Because now I believe your answer isn't really correct.
I tested this on Giant Chasm in my game -- to my surprise, it's legit. This process does cause the weather to go away. It only worked after I caught a Pokemon (after moving the clock forward and loading the save file).
Seasons are out of the question, because time-based events ignore changes in the DS clock for 24 hours (and sure enough, my game loaded with Autumn both times). I also think RNG is out of the question because this works for the Giant Chasm, where fog is permanent. I think it's unlikely we'll find a confident answer to this question without knowing source code.
It's not a bug, it's a feature.
Its called date-skipping I don't know anything about it exept it works... But it changes weather in Sword and Shield too so it must have been around when B/W came out...

In Generation V, it is possible to temporarily remove overworld weather by saving the game, setting the DS's clock to one month later (to change the season), loading the save file, and catching a Pokémon without leaving the area. This works even if the area always has the same weather regardless of the season.

This is a documented "feature" of Pokemon B/W games. However, no one has determined this to be intentional. Bulbapedia lists it in it's Gen V glitch list, so it's safe to assume its a glitch. It also doesn't occur in the game's sequels, which further backs that argument.

Hope I could help!

You sure this answers the question? It just documents the mechanic without explaining it. Then again, the question is also very vague about what kind of information it wants in an explanation.
Are you gonna tell him that quote only exists on Bulbapedia because of this question?
@Fizz, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that. Surely this wasn't put on Bulbapedia simply because of this question? This post was made in mid-2013, and the game had already been out for two years.

To quote OP, "I would like to know how this trick works. I would like to know so because I wouldn't like to do something I don't understand. And please make the explanation as simple as possible."

Simply, it is an unintentional glitch that happens when changing seasons artificially. We can verily assume it is a glitch because it is not a feature in B2W2.

Sorry for telling on you sumwun, I just think this is very funny.
LOL it is very funny. but on topic, i think this is the best answer this question is going to get.
@Fizz, Haha I tried earlier to find when it was added to that page but couldn't seem to locate it.
Honestly I didn't expect that paragraph to still be there (and to be backed by a different Bulbapedia page). Other Bulbapedia editors have undone a bunch of my other edits for citing unreliable sources like this one. Here's a mildly relevant xkcd: https://xkcd.com/978/
