What is a good nature for any Pokémon? One that increases its lowest stat and decreases its highest stat? Or one that increases its highest stat but decreases a stat of which the Pokémon doesn't really require e.g. A Pokémon that doesn't learn many attack moves doesn't really require its attack to be increased.

A Pokemon should have a Nature that raises a stat it uses a lot, and preferably decreases a stat it won't be using at all. It doesn't have to be a specific Nature for the species, it should be a Nature suiting the set.
Example: Alakazam with all Special moves, 252 Special Attack, 252 Spd, and 4 HP should have Timid Nature. Timid lowers Attack(not used in this set) and raises Speed(used a lot in this set).

I'd say a nature that raises a stat that is needed, and the decreased stat is a useless stat for the Pokemon. Etc. Adamant for Haxorus and Jolly for Cincinno. I hope this helps! -Jellohamster

Usually a good nature is determined by what stats you want to focus on. For example, you might want a Jolly or Adamant nature for a Dragonite. That's because You usually won't be teaching Dragonite special moves because it's attack stat is so high, so it's special attack won't matter so a nature that raises the stats focused on, attack and speed. However, you probably don't want a Lonely nature because Dragonite usually relies on setting up a DD, so it want good defenses.

If it's for a defensive Pokemon, what matters is the defenses, so you obviously want a defense raising nature. For example, on a Ferrothorn the ideal nature for a standard set (No Gyro Ball) would be Impish, because it will only be using physical moves. And Ferro is a mixed wall, so you won't want to lower it's special defense either.

So basically, it depends on which stats matter on the Pokemon, and which ones don't.
