What's the chance of getting a shiny starter Pokemon?

I'm just interested.

Because I was searching through shiny sprites and I wondered: I've never seen a shiny starter Pokemon. I wonder how to get one.

From generations 2-5*, the standard odds are 1/8192, while from gens 6-9**, the odds are 1/4096.

However, they can be boosted.

Since the term "Starter Pokemon" is loose, it can either refer to the Pokemon you get as a starter as a whole (found outside of the first Pokemon), or just the first Pokemon you get at the start of each adventure.

It's the same as any regular Pokemon. A 1/8192 chance. To obtain one will require a: luck, b: a lot of effort, or c: hacking.

A: maybe you'll get lucky and receive a shiny starter, or find someone willing to trade you one.

B: You could breed starter Pokemon until you hatch a shiny one (it is recommended you use the Musada method when doing this)

C: Hack, or use one of the Pokemon creation websites or apps, such as pokegen or Pokebuilder

Like any other normal Shiny Pokemon. It's a 1 in 8,192 chance.
Of course, you can always breed as well, but if you want an actual, pure starter Pokemon you'll have to do it at the start of the game. The Masuda Method is still there to help you.

If you don't know what the Masuda Method is it's just you breed two Pokemon from two different-language games and the chances lower. But even then, it's still a 1 in 2000 chance.

first of all the 1/8192 chance only applies to Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heartgold, Soul Silver, Black, White, Black 2, and White 2, which are before gen 6. X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire, the gen 6 games, and onward, the full odds were cut in half to 1/4096 so the odds would vary depending on which games you are playing.

This is worded weirdly. It sounds like in X and Y, it is 1/1892 and in ORAS onwards it is 1/4096.
