no releasing Pokemon is simply a way of getting rid of unwanted or unneeded Pokemon, and making room in your boxes for new Pokemon.

No. When you actually release a Pokemon in your games you could say you deleted that Pokemon as you will never find that exact Pokemon again, and it won't breed or anything like that. In the Anime however, the Pokemon released are sometimes happy and the have freedom to do as they please.

Releasing a Pokemon into the wild means that that Pokemon will have nothing to do with you at all whatsoever.

By any means of record mixing, or any other social feature on any game.
You simply will not see it again.

If you release a Pokemon, it's gone from your PC forever. I'm not really sure though that it's going to make babies in the wild, but it's gone from your hands, wild and free.
