I always thought of it as a pile you create when your opponent uses a card to put your Pokemon in the Lost Zone, but I'm still not sure exactly WHAT the "Lost Zone" itselfis.... Is it just a spot where the player puts his/her Pokemon in it (if the opponent uses something to put it in there) where as it wont be in that match anymore?

>The Lost Zone is an area considered to be a more advanced form of the discard pile. Unlike cards in the discard pile, cards moved to the Lost Zone are kept face-up and are considered to be "outside" the play area due to the fact they are not kept on the playmat if one is used. As such, cards moved to the Lost Zone are no longer considered to be in play, and cannot be retrieved at any time, or by any means, during gameplay.

It is also said that at the end of the match that if the player that put the card in the lost zone wins the match he/she will get to keep the cards in the lost zone.
