Do you have to beat the games to migrate the Pokemon ?

there is an old game saved on a diamond game I bought and I would like to transfer the Pokemon to my black 2 game but was wondering If I had to complete the games first before I would be allowed to do that or just get to a poke transfer lab? I am new to all this trading stuff

No you don't have to beat the game in Daimond though it is recommended because you get a bunch more Pokemon through it.
