"Knock Down" is the literal English translation of Smack Down's Japanese name. At the time this post was made, only the Japanese releases of Black and White were out, and we did not know the English names of the moves.

Okay, I checked. Knock down does quite a few things:

-Inflicts a random Status as the description said.

-Hitting a flying type, or a pokemon with the ability levitate will make them lose their ground immunity.

-CAN hit a pokemon using fly or bounce, and knocks them to the ground.

-Can hit a pokemon who is the victim of the move freefall, but won't knock them down.
