I think so. It adds support to a team.

Possibly. For example, when I get a Gigilath I'm going to run explosion on it, but only use it as a last resort. This means if I know it's gonna faint next turn, I use explosion to get damage.
So if cresselia will faint next turn, and you have a pokémon that could use some healing, use it. It really depends how your playing.

Each Pokemon can know 4 moves, and it's usually better to know 4 always good moves than to know 3 good moves and 1 "last resort" move.
