Why is Surge's Manectric holding Pinap Berry?

During rematch with Lt. Surge, his Manectric is holding Pinap Berry. But Pinap Berry is Poffin ingredient, isn't it??

I figured this out FINALLY... The Pinap Berry turns Natural Gift into a 70-power Grass-type move, which gives it a super effective move against Manectric's Only Weakness Ground. On top of that Natural Gift doesn't even Work without a held berry, and the Pinap berry can't be used in Combat.

Don't know why that would be. It won't do anything significant in battle, but you can use covet to get a nice berry. it is a poffin ingredient.
