Ch 2 Limeon and Jara
“Can...we...slow...DOWN?” Limeon called out as he bounced haphazardly on Jara’s shoulder. Jara turned her head slightly to answer him, causing her to smack into yet another person.”woah!” Jara cried out as she fell, sending Limeon unwittingly somersaulting backwards. “Um, excuse you?” A haughty voice said to Jara. Stammering and clambering up Jara said “i-i’m sorry, were late to meet our friends and-“ the person Jara had crashed into cut off her explanation, “I didn’t ask WHY you ran into me I said “excess you” quite frankly i don’t care why just don’t do it again m’kay?” Limeon muttered “is everyone in a bad mood today?” It was only then that Jara realized who she’d almost run over. It was Nala, the most popular and mean girl around. Jara flinched and Nala smirked. Nala said “well well well if it isn’t Jar-Jar and Lime.” Jara hated being called “jar-jar” and Limeon hated “Lime” more than she hated “Jar-Jar” suddenly a small high pitched scream of terror caught everyone off guard. “Ahhhhhhhhhhh! No no no! Let me go! Helppppp!” Both Jara and Nala followed the sound of the scream. They caught a glimpse of a shadow reaching down and hauling a Puffer-shaped shadow up against it’s will. It called again “help me please! Someone any-“ the cries were muffled as the human shadow shoved something into the Puffer-shadows mouth. Nala stood mouth hanging open and eyes wide in terror. Jara glared and tried to run after the shadows but Limeon jumped up from behind and pushed her down. Just as he did this Ema, Nala’s Puffer pushed her down too. nala hissed “hey” but Jara shook her head at Nala, who for once did as suggested. The shadows got closer to them and they heard the human shadow say “bah, shut up you!” And disappeared. Limeon was violently shaking and looked mire green than usual. Ema looked paler than normal and surprisingly didn’t bother to fix her tiara which was askew, the girls got up and slowly backed away each holding their puffers close.

Ch 1 Limeon and Jara
“Hey Limeon! C’mon we’ll be late.” Jara called to her best friend, Limeon was a Forest Tribe Puffer whom she’d met seven years ago, well saved actually. Limeon and his parents had been caught in a lighting storm their tree-house having been struck by said lighting. Limeon had only been five then now he was twelve and Jara was fourteen. “I’m...coming as fast...as I can.” Limeon panted as he raced towards Jara, who had her arms out to either side , ready to catch him as he launched at her. Before he got there though a dark haired figure raced from shadow to shadow, a smaller blue blur following. Jara saw them before Limeon did and she called “Limeon!!!” Just as the dark haired figure ran and promptly tripped on Limeon. “Gah!!!” The stranger cried out, not in pain but in annoyance. The figure, a boy, said “hey you! Watch where you’re going sheesh!!” Jara raced over to Limeon’s side and helped him up. “You okay Limeon?” The neon green Puffer nodded but looked warily at the boy. He growled “excuses me but are you gonna move or do I need to move you? Maybe you oughta look out for someone other than yourself.” Jara stared agape at the boy and Limeon looked line he was about to cry. The boy glared at them then the small blue thing that had been following the boy cane into view, it was an Ocean Tribe Puffer. The Puffer didn’t look as hate-full as the boy did and it spoke In a calm voice “that’s enough Shade, yku’ve said your piece now just leave them alone.” Shade glared at the Puffer but said nothing more. As they left Jara relaxed a bit and said “huh, wonder what his problem was... “ Jara shrugged off the boy’s rudeness as if it hadn’t happened but Limeon couldn’t shake thongs off as easily.in the collusion with the boy Limeon had list his silver rimmed glasses, thankfully they hadn’t broken. “Here.” Jara Saudi as she placed the glasses on his furry face. He looked at her and blinked rapidly. “Do...you think that boy is that er mean all the time?” Limeon asked Jara shook her head, “nah probably just having a bad day, c’mon were super late for meeting the others.” Jara sucked up Limeon and they hurried off to meet their friends. Neither if them even realizing they’d been being watched since before Shade had arrived.

Prologue

Jara
“Boom!” I jumped, wide awKe it had to be near midnight if not later. “Boom!” I heard again the sound had awakened me. Thunder and lighting Warred outside. At age seven I guess I should’ve been terrified of the storm, but I was an odd child and storms didn’t scare me. I got out of bed and walked over to my window. I threw open the dark blue curtains and opened the blind. The sky was lit up like Christmas, only not as cheery, from my vantage point i could see the tree where a family of Forest Tribe Puffers lived, it was an old tree and I was a little surprised to sed it still standing what with all the wind and lighting. And then as if i’d conjured it up by magic, a huge bolt of lighting hit the tree! I heard a scream or was it the wind? Echo from the tree it was on fire! My only thought was “oh no! Someone has to help them” i stuffed my feet into my shoes, threw on a hoodie over my sunshine PJs and dashed downstairs to our kitchen where I filled a jar with water. I did this all silently and as fast as I could. I wrenched open the front door and ran, ran as fast as possible towards the tree. I glimpsed two full grown Puffers, one emerald green the other peach colored. The peach one cried out “my son! My son! He’s trapped in our home! Someone help!” I wasn’t sure I was the “someone” she’d expected but the green one, calmer than his wife (i assumed they were husband and Wife) said “it’ll be alright Pasha, Limeon will be okay.” Pasha responded “but Emit he’s only 5! He’s gotta be scared to death.” By now i’d got close enough to throw my water. So I did, The water hit the tree in the sane instant a small lime green Puffer with silver bat-like wars on top of it’s head, fell or was shoved or jumped of it’s own free will. I dropped my jar, now empty, and cupped my hands the small Puffer landed solemnly in my hands. The little thing shook and cried and cried and shook. Pasha, the peach Puffer cried out again. “That’s him! That’s my son!” I knelt down by Pasha and Emit and laid Limeon down beside them. Only now did I talk “will...will he be okay?” I was genuinely concerned and Pasha, who was cradling her son said, quietly, “yes he’s scared but he’ll be okay soon.” I smiled warmly at the little family nodded once and left them. The fire was out and I realized the Puffers home had been destroyed. I turned around “hey ms. Pasha? Yuk and your family should come back with me, my parents won’t mind they’d ve happy to help and meet you.” Pasha thanked me and we headed back. I held Limeon as he was too scared to walk. I had no idea that, at that moment, I was in part holding my destiny.
