I might start chaining for a shiny starter in y, but I don't know if in the case the Pokemon will look shiny, or look normal but be shiny. Same with eggs

yeah, they do. if you go in amie they'll be shiny, and i think if you look at their sprite from the pokemon list in the game menu you'll see them shiny. of course, they also show up shiny in their summary pages
Not what I meant. "Hawlucha hatched from the egg!" Is he shiny? He looks normal, I'll just discard him. Bye, shiny Hawlucha!
oh. he'll be shiny
I've hatched shiny Pokemon. Don't worry they appear shiny when shiny and normal when normal. The only starters that appear shiny before you pick them are in HGSS.
"Same with eggs"
Eggs dont have shiny sprites
She means in the hatching animation when the Pokemon comes out-
I know, I'm just answering for the "same with eggs" part
@Sep

In the full sprite situation of receiving your starter it will appear normal until it is sent into battle. When hatching eggs however it will appear in shiny form when hatching from the egg. While in the summary screen shiny Pokemon will appear in it's shiny form.
