Effects
In the wild, Roar causes the target Pokémon to flee if they are of a lower level, and the battle ends.
In trainer battles (including linked battles), Roar forces the target to switch out of battle (regardless of level) and is replaced with another Pokémon in the trainer's team.
Pokémon with the abilities Soundproof or Suction Cups or those rooted by Ingrain are not affected by Roar.
Changes
- In Generations 1-5, Roar has 100% accuracy.
- In Generation 1, Roar has a priority of 0.
- In Generation 2, Roar has a priority of -1.
- In Generation 3, Roar has a priority of -5.
- In Generations 1-4, Roar works on any level Pokémon in wild battles.
- In Generation 1, Roar only causes wild battles to end with no effect in trainer battles.
Z-Move effects
When a Pokémon is holding Normalium Z and uses its Z-Power, Roar turns into Z-Roar and raises Defense one stage, in addition to its usual effect as above.
Move target
