As usual, in FireRed/LeafGreen you battle your way through 8 gyms, each specializing in a particular type. Following that you take on the Elite Four and the Champion.

The teams are mostly the same as the original Red/Blue with a few level changes. The levels of the Elite Four's Pokémon also increase from the second challenge onward.
