    But I can’t feel my legs, my body, anything! Am I dead?

    It feels like I’m being moved. Transported.

    I hear multiple voices. I can barely hear what’s going on...

    Oh no. I’m being moved again.

    It’s much quieter now.

    “Alright, let’s see what happens when I doooo THIS.”

         That was a man’s voice. I heard him very clearly.

     “The game doesn’t seem to load properly...”
    (THUMP) (Thump) (thump)

He must’ve got up and walked away for whatever reason. I wonder what he meant by “the game”.

 He returned. This time, he clicked something, and suddenly, I was transported again. After a while, I stopped moving for a second, only to feel as if I were sliding into something. I stopped moving, but I felt the surrounding area warming up. Suddenly, I heard a noise. Like a computer booting up.  
…
 It took a minute, but I finally heard noise again. Over a loud hum that randomly started, I heard the clickety-clackety sound of someone typing on a keyboard. I heard softer clicks, presumably from a mouse, but then the typing started again. I felt some of the room I was in get illuminated, although I still couldn’t see anything. I felt someone peering into the room, this pocket of dark nothingness. It was as if a powerful gaze was scanning everything around me.

 “This cartridge has some interesting pieces of corrupt code,” the man said. I heard a click. “It seems screwing around with the cartridge’s data and code seems to have caused this...”

 Cartridge? Data? Code? He was speaking as if I was in a video game! I mean, it explains some things. Like how HMs are required for simple functions, but it couldn’t be true! I’m not living in a video game, right?

 I heard more typing. There were pauses every few minutes, but the pauses were brief, with the typing picking up soon after every pause. I heard ecstatic “hmm”s and “erm”s as the person outside, indulged in what he saw, wrote things down on a piece of paper. Finally, the typing stopped, and I was soon transported elsewhere.  

 The man outside started to tinker with something, almost as if he was constructing something. That was the only sound I heard for hours...

 …

 I feel the space around me getting pried open. It instantly got a lot cooler, but instantly, I felt someone changing things around me. It felt like something new just entered and instantly became a part of me, slowly taking over. Out of nowhere, everything flashed a bright blue light. The blue walls in front of me had strange white lines and zigzags that were quickly filled up with a glowing green light. The room started getting brighter and brighter before all I saw was white.

 “There. Everything should be fixed now,” I heard the man say. Then I lost consciousness...

I woke up in a place that heavily resembled Sinnoh’s Flower Paradise. Lucious soft green hills topped with gorgeous blooming flowers of all sorts of colors surrounded me. Surprisingly, there was a staircase in front of me that lead to a plateau. The plateau had a magnificent glowing aura surrounding it. I walked up the staircase, admiring the sight of endless flowery fields, and once I reached the top, I froze.

 No.
 It couldn’t be.

 Arceus himself was standing at the far end of the plateau. A couple flowers decorated the landscape, but it was mostly covered with grass, with several stone spear pillars reaching up from the ground and towering over us. I slowly made my way to Arceus, with him watching my every move. Eventually, I was in front of Arceus. Was this real? Was I dreaming? My physical body was here right now, so it had to be some form of reality, right?

 “Vipey. I have been waiting for you.”

 I was in shock. Arceus. Speaking to me? I trembled a bit and felt a bit light, and at a sudden loss for words. I looked up and nodded at Arceus.

 “I’ve been watching over your adventures in Johto, Vipey. I’ve seen you do things nobody has ever done before.” I felt a little chill. “You have a good heart, Vipey. You’re helpful to those closest to you. You put effort into your work to benefit others. You have great leadership skills that serve to help people around you.” Wow. I never thought I’d live to see the day Arceus compliments me. “BUT,” Arceus continued, “Every person has their negative qualities!  You are rude to those who you call upon to serve you or help you with various tasks!” Old Timer and Lusterous’ Pokeballs appeared out of thin air. The giant dragons instantly shot out of the balls and onto a pillar, where they were instantly chained up, looking down on me. “You are impulsive and put those closest to you in danger without taking any precautions to secure their safety!”  A mental image flashed of Chris on the sailboat in the whirlpool, and my notebook with the word “save” on the cover floating around. “You don’t stay committed to those who love and support you!” A mental image flashed again, this time of me jumping out the window of the Radio Tower for Vanessa, leaving behind a crying Lyra. “These traits of yours are disdainful; I look down on such behaviors with disgust.” I felt my head fall. To be scolded by Arceus put a knot of guilt in my heart.  

 “I am truly sorry for my behavior, lord Arceus. I accept that some of my actions were very wrong, and I will do my best to change my ways for the better.” Arceus slowly nodded. “Lord Arceus, is there anything you can do to guide me in the right direction and ensure that this doesn’t happen again?”

 “Why, Vipey, I’ve been trying to guide you onto the right path the whole time! Haven’t you felt those chills I sent you? Didn’t you look up and see the messages I wrote for you in the clouds? Or the messages on the various pieces of paper I placed in the Rocket Base?”  

 “No, I didn’t.” Wow. I felt so stupid in that moment there. Arceus himself tried to guide me on the right path, but I was too oblivious to catch any of his messages. Arceus slowly nodded in disappointed understanding.

 “Now Vipey, there is a reason you’re here. You have violated the laws of this universe! You ignored the rules of our universe, causing chaos and disorder throughout the Johto region. By dimension hopping, you’ve corrupted your dimension, causing everything to spiral out of order. You’ve become corrupt! Things appeared where they shouldn’t have been. You accessed places you shouldn’t have been able to go. You’ve upset the gods of the Pokemon unverse. You’ve committed crimes so disconcerting, and such a heavy punishment of getting condemned to the fiery pits of the Distortion World for the rest of eternity is a punishment worthy of your actions!!!”

 The sky had turned a dark mix of red, purple, and navy blue. Storm clouds filled the sky. I threw myself at the feet of Arceus begging and pleading.

 “PLEASE LORD ARCEUS! SHOW ME MERCY!!!”

 “I’ve been showing you mercy all throughout your journey. When you were in the theater in Ecruteak City, I brought out the chair’s leg. If I hadn’t stopped you, the Kimono Girl would have turned you in to the police. Or your trip to Cianwood City? Did you notice how dark it was? If there was even a single shining star in the sky, Jasmine would have busted your whole crew had she seen you were Team Rocket. Or what about your final moments in the Radio Tower? I held back Dragonite’s Flamethrower just long enough for you to take out a Pokeball and use a Pokemon to escape. But your mind was poisoned by your thoughts! You weren’t thinking clearly and leaped out the window to your death! And even after everything you’ve gone through, I still showed you mercy and brought you back to life and here before me!”

 I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! Arceus had been helping me the whole time?! I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say! I trembled before Arceus in fear of what was going to happen to me.

 “For all the sins against the universe you’ve committed, you DESERVE to be in the distortion world! But... I will show you mercy once more. However, punishment upon you is inevitable.”  My Pokeballs appeared out of thin air, and all my Pokemon were brought out and left to float in the air. Pear, Raticate, Covid, Kobra, Stalker, Gyarados, and even Togepi. The pillars Old Timer and Lusterous were chained to levitated in the air as well. Arceus too started Levitating, looking down on me and all my Pokemon.

 “First, your Dialga. I will strip it of it’s dimension travelling powers and send it back to the Sinnoh region!” Arceus lifted his foot and Old Timer started glowing. Mystical power started flowing out of the shiny Dialga and turning into nothingness. Then, Arceus touched Old Timer, and after filling up with a red energy, the Dialga disappeared. “Next, Palkia. Your Palkia shouldn’t even exist, yet somehow, due to corrupting the universe, you were able to summon it. A worthy Pokemon sacrificing it’s own blood to appear to you as a shiny... Palkia shall return to it’s dimension.” Arceus touched Lusterous, and after the red energy took over, the Palkia disappeared. I can’t believe this whole time, Lusterous wasn’t actually shiny!

 “As for your other Pokemon, your Arbok, Hypno, and Gyarados are corrupt as well. They shall be erased from existence!” I stared in horror as Arceus, with a swipe of his foot, erased my hard earned shinies from existence. Pear, Raticate, and Covid were still floating, as well as Togepi, but the loss of my other precious partners was devastating. “And finally, your Togepi. It shall forever be prevented from evolving!” That one was cruel. It didn’t hurt AS much as the other punishments, but it still stung.  

 All my remaining Pokemon were brought back into their Pokeballs and returned to me. But just as I thought I was done, Arceus spoke one more time.

“Everything will be back to normal soon. But as for you, I still have one punishment.”

 Arceus lifted me up into the air. Balls holding immense energy floated in the air surrounding me. Arceus turned away, and brought down his Judgement upon me...

sEpilogueƧ

 THUMP!

 My eyes shot open to the loud sound of something banging on wood. I look ahead of me and see Pear, my shiny Bayleef, banging it’s head on a tree over and over. OH RIGHT! I was hunting Heracross! Spearow, Aipom, and Heracross fell from the tree. I felt a sudden chill. I looked up towards the sky and saw a cloud that looked like a distorted Arceus. Then, for a split second, I got a flash in my memory. Everything I’d gone through throughout my journey filled my mind. I remembered my shinies, Team Rocket, Arceus...  With my experiences still fresh on my mind, I run from the tree, call out Crobat, and prepared to fly to Mahogonay Town to go to the Team Rocket base.

 ..or at least, I TRY to. But I can’t move. I can’t reach for my Pokeballs or anything. With my attempts to relive my adventures thwarted, I command Pear to keep banging on the tree.

I was there for an eternity, hoping for the day a shiny finally appears...
