Role: Tank

Misdreavus (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 128 HP / 160 Def / 58 SpA / 80 SpD / 80 Spe
Modest Nature (+SpA, -Atk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
__

Will-O-Wisp gives it better tolerance to Physical Moves, while powering up Hex.

Thunderbolt gives great coverage, and HP Fighting covers his Dark weakness.

theres only a total of 506 EVs and 58 is not divisible by 4, make it 60 EVs in SpA and it is all fixed

Gen IV

Misdreavus (M) @ Choice Scarf

Role: Rain Support

Trait: Levitate

EVs: 128 HP / 160 Def / 58 SAtk / 80 SDef / 80 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

-Rain Dance

You can trick your choice scarf onto your opponent, locking them into something like a stat raising move, and then even confuse them, and now you set up Rain Dance, and Thunder if necesarry.

Generation VI

Role: Special Sweeper

Mismagius @ Spooky Plate / Spell Tag
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Shadow Ball (STAB, deals with Ghost weakness)
- Dazzling Gleam (Deals with Dark weakness)
- Calm Mind (Boosts her already good Special Attack for more damage and boosts her good Special Defense)
- Pain Split (My favorite move in Pokemon. When your low on HP use this on a higher HP Pokemon to really mess with them, a great move for healing and dealing damage.)

Gen 9 NU Nasty Plot

Mismagius @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute / Taunt
- Shadow Ball
- Draining Kiss

Mismagius is one of the many Pokemon who dropped to NU, so here is Nasty Plot set it can use. Nasty Plot boosts Mismagius' already good Special Attack to make it a scary breaker should a team not have any checks alive to deal with it. Substitute can be used to scout for status moves to grant more setup opportunities, while Taunt can shut down defensive Pokemon and prevent setup Pokemon such as Mesprit, Meloetta, and Uxie from setting up alongside it. Shadow Ball is used for a Ghost STAB that most Pokemon don't want to switch into. Draining Kiss is used for the Fairy move since it allows Mismagius to recover HP. Since this set uses Tera Fairy to turn Mismaius' Dark weakness into a resist, Draining Kiss will become a STAB move and have its power boosted from 50 to 60, which is pretty neat. Leftovers is used to give Mismagius a little bit of HP recovery each turn.

Misdreavus

Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 158 HP / 252 Def / 100 SpD
Bold Nature

  • Will-O-Wisp
  • Pain Split
  • Calm Mind
  • Hidden Power [Fighting]

Will-O-Wisp lowers the opponents Attack thus increasing overall bulk, it also stalls. Pain Split heals and damages. Calm Mind increases SpD and SpA, which helps his bulk and damage. Hidden Power [Fighting] covers Steel- and Dark-types.

If you're Taunted, about any Ghost type can come in and not only resist HP Fighting, but hit you super effective.
Then I switch out (O.O).
Well... Shadow Tag Chandelure is popular.
Well, I doubt Misdreavus is going to be used in OU.

Role: Wall

Misdreavus @ Ring Target
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Pain Split
- Calm Mind
- Trick
- Shadow Ball

Use Trick for Shadow Ball to hit Normal-types. Trick is learned from BW2 move tutor…

Ah, Mismagius, one of my very favorite Pokemon from Gen 4.

Role: Special Sweeper

enter image description here
Mismagius@ Spooky Plate (Ghost attacks provide good neutral coverage)
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Psychic
- Destiny Bond / Confuse Ray / Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power [Fighting]

Shadow Ball is strong STAB move, Energy Ball is nice coverage, and Psychic is also nice coverage.
Now, here, it really depends on you:
If you want to annoy physical attackers use Confuse Ray.
If you want to take them down with you, use Destiny Bond.
If you want to cover Dark-type weakness, use Dazzling Gleam.
If you want super-effective damage against Normal-types, use Hidden Power [Fighting].

Mismagius @ Life Orb / Spooky Plate / Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Thunderbolt / Energy Ball / Destiny Bond

Nasty Plot is for boosting her Special Attack by two stages, making her a powerful sweeper.
Shadow Ball is STAB and has good neutral coverage on almost all types.
Dazzling Gleam is to hit Dark-types that threaten her. Also used to hit Fighting- and Dragon-types. Hidden Power [Fighting] can also be used to hit Dark-types as well as Steel-, Rock-, Normal- and Ice-types.
Thunderbolt or Energy Ball are for bulky Water-types. Thunderbolt also hits Flying-types whereas Energy Ball hits Ground- and Rock-types as well as Water-types that are immune to Thunderbolt. Destiny Bond can be used to take down an opposing Pokemon on your way out.

Other options include Will-O-Wisp which is useful for burning the majority of physical attackers. Pain Split can be used for recovering health. Taunt is good for stopping stall and defensive Pokemon relying on status, hazards and set-up moves. Life Orb is for extra power, Spooky Plate is for buffing Shadow Ball's power while Colbur Berry allows her to survive Dark-type moves.

I'm actually surprised that people didn't use this moveset!

Miss Meanie (Mismagius) @ Focus Sash / Kee / Colbur / Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 128 Def / 128 SpD / 252 Spe
Bold Nature
- Mean Look
- Perish Song
- Protect / Pain Split / Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp

The plan is straightforward, really. You send out Mismagius somewhere in the battle and Mean Look. After that, you Perish Song and boom! Them plot is set. You can further abuse the opponent by Will-O-Wisping and down their attack goes. Protect is to further stalling, Pain Split for healing, and Shadow Ball to not be taunt bait.

Misdreavus (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

A pure wall: nothing more, nothing less.

I've worked with many Mismagius movesets, and I've got some that can work for any team:

1: Classic Sweeper

Mismagius @ Salac Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball (Good power, always a necessity)
- Nasty Plot / Charge Beam (Set-up, preferably Nasty Plot for a reliable boost)
- Dazzling Gleam (Dark-type coverage)
- Power Gem / Hidden Power [Fighting] (Coverage)

Mine has Power Gem because the Pyroar family is the only Pokemon that resist Ghost and Fairy, and it's stronger and easier to get. This is my favorite set because you get boosts in SpA and Spe, what every Mismagius dreams of.

2: Specs Sweeper

Mismagius @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Shadow Ball (Self-explanatory)
- Energy Ball / Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power / Thunderbolt / Power Gem (Choose your coverage)
- Trick (Get rid of Specs)
- Energy Ball / Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power / Thunderbolt / Power Gem (Choose your coverage)

A good set for straight-up power.

3: Scarf Sweeper

Mismagius @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Shadow Ball (Self-explanatory)
- Trick (Get rid of Scarf)
- Energy Ball / Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power / Thunderbolt / Power Gem (Choose your coverage)
- Energy Ball / Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power / Thunderbolt / Power Gem (Choose your coverage)

Good set for straight-up speed.

4: Tank

Mismagius @ Kee / Lum Berry / Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp (Burn, lowers their attack)
- Calm Mind (Set-up)
- Rest (Don't want to have Toxic, Pain Split isn't as reliable and doesn't cover Toxic damage)
- Power Gem / Hidden Power [Water] (Only Fire-types will be immune to Burn)

Good for complete annoyance.

5: Eye for an Eye

Mismagius @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Charge Beam (Set-up, coverage)
- Shadow Ball (No duh)
- Dazzling Gleam (Dark-type coverage)
- Destiny Bond (Take them down with you)

Mismagius @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe (Standard special sweeper)
Modest Nature (+Sp. Atk, - Atk)

  • Shadow Ball
  • Mystical Fire
  • Thunderbolt
  • Dazzling Gleam

Though Mismagius has tremendous potential with Calm Mind, this is a great set too, exploiting it's insane movepool. This set makes Mismagius have an AMAZING coverage. Nature and item to complement both Special Attack and Speed.

Having this defensive Mismagius works absolute wonders!

Mismagius (F) @ Red Card
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 200 Def / 58 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

  • Thunder Wave
  • Pain Split
  • Magic Coat
  • Shadow Ball

Magic Coat is a hugely underrated move as it reflects any status or stat dropping moves back at the opponent (including Spikes/Stealth Rock). If your opponents lead looks defensive start off with a Magic Coat to reflect a Confuse Ray or Attract or Scary Face. Use Thunder Wave if they look more offensive, eg. Salamence. After receiving an attack, Red Card will switch out the Pokemon to another at random. Pain Split or another Thunder Wave works well here. Paralysing 2/3 of your opponents Pokemon also makes it easier for slower Pokemon, eg. Dusknoir to make a more dangerous effect.

I have very fond memories of using a Mismagius back in DPP nicknamed Mr. Magius! A while back, I was thinking of making a Dusknoir set with the 3 elemental punches and Hex, which would take advantage of that 10% chance for them to cause status. However, after experimenting with like Pokemon, such as Prankster Mega Banette with Hex, Toxic, WoW, and T-wave, I thought Mismagius would be the best user of this kind of set:

Mismagius @ Wide Lens
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Timid Nature
- Hex
- Thunder Wave
- Toxic
- Will-O-Wisp

With Wide Lens, Toxic and Thunder Wave have their accuracy boosted from 90% to 100%, and WoW will hit with 94% accuracy, rather than 85%.

EVs can really be whatever you prefer.

This thing is insanely powerful if used properly.

Role: Special Sweeper

Mismagius @ Colbur Berry / Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Nasty Plot
- Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Thunderbolt / Energy Ball / Power Gem / Psychic

Shadow Ball is for the classic STAB, and to deal with Ghosts.

Nasty Plot is to deal more damage, and it will be even more dangerous with the Modest nature.

Hidden Power [Fighting] is for the Dark-types, but if you're breeding a shiny and you won't bother with Hidden Power, go with Dazzling Gleam. They're different moves, but both can still help you with that weakness.

The last four moves are for coverage, I prefer Thunderbolt, but it's totally up to you.

Role: Annoyer

Mismagius @ Spell Tag
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 230 HP / 252 Def / 26 SpD
Bold / Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave / Toxic
- Hex
- Pain Split
- Spite

Will-O-Wisp, Thunder Wave, and Toxic are to mess with the opponent, as well as doubling Hex's power.

Hex deals insane damage if you used one of the first moves above successfully, especially with Spell Tag and STAB, which will hit the opponent like a train.

Pain Split heals and deals damage.

Spite is to annoy the opponent more, especially if the moves they use have around 10 - 5 PP.

Mismagius @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Power Gem
- Nasty Plot
- Taunt

Shadow Ball as STAB. Power Gem as coverage against types that Ghost moves won't hit. Nasty Plot to raise that SpAtk even higher and Taunt to prevent setup.

Gen 7 NU

Mismagius @ Ghostium Z / Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Power Gem
- Nasty Plot

Shadow Ball is STAB. Dazzling Gleam deals with dark types. Power Gem is great coverage. Nasty Plot is to boost your Special Attack. For the item, you can use Ghostium-Z for a one time nuke, or Life Orb to give your attacks a little more power.

VGC 2017

Mismagius @ Life orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Icy Wind
- Focus Blast

Dazzling Gleam is a good spread move, Shadow ball is a stab move, Icy wind is good speed control and Focus blast is good coverage. The combination of all four creates perfect coverage.
