Gen 9 Monotype Choice Scarf (Water)

Samurott-Hisui @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ceaseless Edge
- Knock Off
- Aqua Cutter
- Sacred Sword

Hisuian Samurott is a nice addition for Rainless Water teams that can serve as a Choice Scarf user in Gen 9 Monotype. Having a great Ability to boost its attacks, with a move that sets unbounceable Spikes, and being one of the few Water-types to have Knock Off make this a good Pokemon to use in Gen 9 Monotype. Ceaseless Edge is a nice Dark STAB that sets up Spikes, allowing Quagsire or Gastrodon to free a slot for a move like Toxic or Ice Beam respectively. Ceaseless Edge also gets boosted by Sharpness, making it more powerful. Knock Off is here because Knock Off is Knock Off having the ability to remove items is really great, and Hisuian Samurott can potentially Knock Off Heavy-Duty Boots, which can make the grounded Pokemon weak to the Spikes set by Ceaseless Edge. Aqua Cutter is used for the Water STAB since gets boosted by Sharpness. Plus, having a high chance to crit can be neat. Sacred Sword is a nice coverage move boosted by Sharpness that allows Hisuian Samurott to hit Dark-types such as Greninja, Urshifu (Single Strike), Chien-Pao, Kingambit, as well as Pokemon such as Baxcalibur and Hisuian Goodra super effectively.

Gen 9 Monotype Swords Dance/Lead (Water)

Samurott-Hisui @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Focus Sash
Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Taunt
- Swords Dance
- Ceaseless Edge
- Aqua Jet

This set was passed to me for me to try, and I enjoyed using this set, so I'm posting it here. This is a Swords Dance set that can also serve as a lead set for Hisuian Samurott to use on Water teams in Monotype. Taunt allows Hisuian Samurott to shut down defensive Pokemon such as Toxapex and prevent slower Pokemon from setting up hazards. Swords Dance is used to boost Hisuian Samurott's attack stat to make it a potent breaker. Ceaseless Edge is used for the Dark STAB since it not only gets boosted by Sharpness, but it also can setup unbounceable Spikes. Aqua Jet is used for the Water STAB since it allows Hisuian Samurott to pick off fast Pokemon that are weakened. Heavy-Duty Boots is used as the item to prevent Hisuian Samurott from being chipped by hazards should you be unable to remove them. Focus Sash can be used instead if you decide to use this set as a dedicated lead.

Gen 9 National Dex

Samurott @ Choice Band
Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Dark / Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ceaseless Edge
- Aqua Cutter
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet

  • Hisuian Samurott is a great and underrated Choice Band user in the metagame, with its powerful Sharpness boosted STAB combination along with the immense utility provided by Ceaseless Edge and Knock Off. Its typing lets it threaten common defensive Pokemon like Heatran, Gliscor, Iron Crown, and Slowking-Galar.
  • Ceaseless Edge is its best move and ensures that it will make progress every time it attacks with its Spikes setting effect. Aqua Cutter is the preferred Water STAB over Razor Shell due to its non-contact nature letting it safely hit Pokemon with contact punishing effects like Static Zapdos, Flame Body Volcarona and Moltres, and Rough Skin Garchomp. Knock Off helps Samurott and its teammates by removing Heavy-Duty Boots from checks like Toxapex, Alomomola and Leftovers from Ferrothorn, putting them closer to being worn down by its spikes in conjunction with its powerful attacks. Aqua Jet is a priority option that allows it to revenge kill weakened threats like Weavile, Tapu Koko, Darkrai, Iron Valiant, Mega Diancie, and Volcarona.
  • This set fits best on more balanced and bulky offensive teams that can both bring Hisuian Samurott in safely and pivot into a Pokemon that is attempting to revenge kill it.
  • Landorus-T, Tornadus-T, Tapu Koko, and Assault Vest Iron Crown can bring it in with U-turn and Volt Switch. Tapu Koko in particular has good synergy, it can bring Samurott in against Pokemon that check it like Mega Tyranitar, Galarian Slowking and Gliscor, and in return it threatens the bulky Water types that can soft check Samurott like Toxapex and Alomomola (Choice Specs sets also use Dazzling Gleam which can dent Raging Bolt and Dragonite as well).
  • Samurott can be picked off by faster attackers such as Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Serperior, Mega Lopunny, and Urshifu-Rapid Strike, so Pokemon that can switch into their hits are helpful. Heatran can check Lele and Serperior, Zapdos can switch into Lopunny and Urshifu and punish them with Static potentially.
