They look similar and they are both weak to fighting. They are also both in the field group.

Lol, I only realized how similar they are now.
who downvoted me, and why?
Breed a Ditto with a Lycanroc and get a Midnight Lycanroc... then breed the same Ditto with a Zoroark and get another Zoroark... they'd be stepbrothers/sisters, if that's what you mean.
@SylveonRulez Oh, never thought of it that way.

It also resembles a werewolf, due to the fact that it is an anthropomorphic canid, like most werewolves. Its large claws are also werewolf-like.

Lycanroc's Midday Form appears to be based on a wolf, while its Midnight Form appears to be based on a werewolf.

Zoroark and Lycanroc Midnight Form are based on werewolves. As far as we know, Zoroark and Lycanroc Midnight Form aren't related in any major way.

Well, perhaps the fact that Zoroark is dark type and Lycanroc midnight form evolves at night may be an accidental confirmation of convergent evolution earlier than intended, it may be a little far fetched, but it is something that Pokemon has done before. For instance, they did it with mega evolution in the OG Indigo league anime when Misty was trying to catch some "mythical" never before seen sea monster, or the many instances of Game Freak referencing future games in the past, like for instance with the grape and orange wallpaper in SM/USUM. So, this is just my long-winded answer of saying it MIGHT be possible this relation to these two specific Pokemon is canon, if this helps, then you're welcome
