For you science people who play Pokemon, please help me out on this. In Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's Delta Episode an asteroid with a diameter of 6 miles is headed towards Earth and Mega-Rayquaza shatters the rock by smashing into it head first.
How much force did Rayquaza use to shatter the asteroid assuming of course Mega-Rayquaza is indestructible during the process?
Mega-Rayquaza Height: 10.8 m
Mega-Rayquaza Weight: 392.0 kg
Asteroid Diameter: 6 miles (9.656064 kilometers)
Hoenn Size: 13,761 miles squared (35,640.826 kilometers squared)

Maybe, but by standard as in the most common asteroid that humans research or come across while researching...
And there wouldn't be an answer if there wasnt a bunch of assumptions, it's like a physics problem where we consider viscosity negligible in some cases, friction negligible in others and etc but still wearing consider the answer to be correct... And how we apply ideal gas laws to real gases assuming that they behave ideally and blah blah
Guys-there's only one answer to this question.
Game Freak logic
I can probable answer but I'm lazy. might on sunday if y'all patient.
Well... now that I think of it, while Rayquaza pierced into that asteroid, the player also did. Meaning our character should have been shredded to millions of pokepieces and scattered through the universe.

You can tell gamefreak wasn't trying to science here >.>
This question has way to many holes to answer, but i found something out, it appears mega rayquaza either did a barrel role when it hit the asteroid or ray shrunk, look at the cut scene slowed down it's all there.

It would not be a direct impact force. That would work more like a nail hitting a piece of wood.

GF seemed to approach this situation logically. Think of the asteroid as a semi-soft clay ball, roughly the size of a soccer ball. If a small, thin object were to connect with it while exerting the energy required to shatter it, the object would easily pierce the ball. Think of pressing a battery into the ball for this example.

Now, imagine a black cat firework, roughly the same size as the battery used in example one. Press this into the clay ball and light the fuse. When the firework explodes, the clay ball will shatter as well. This will be example two.

Example three will use the same firework, only this time, it will be placed against the clay ball. When the firework goes off, the clay ball will move, but we'll likely receive very little damage, if any.

I imagine this playing out like scenario two. If Rayquaza simply flew hard at the asteroid, he would have gone through it. If he hit it with an energy blast from the outside, he would merely have moved it off course or possibly split it.

Rayquaza entered the meteor and unleashed his draconian energy. Having nowhere to go, said energy would build up pressure and, ultimately, cause the meteor to explode dramatically. Now... let's assume the meteor is highly silicon based, as many spatial entities are, as are most non gas planets. Basically, we are looking at a giant rock.

It was not a sphere, so I will eyeball a guess that the rock was 6 miles at its longest point and not its shortest. That gives a maximum radius of 3 miles. Rayquaza had to exert at least enough energy to shatter that from within. Not hard to create an estimate of the force required.

My best guess? Roughly 40 percent of the force of a nuclear warhead would be the most needed to do this. Therefore, Rayquaza exerted that much energy or more.

The player would be sitting in a 2500 degree firestorm. And survived unharmed. Because logic.
They were wearing the Magma/Aqua suit, so that might be why they survived.
Assuming they still had the blue/red orb in the suit as well. considering they never got rid of it.
Not to mention 20 psi, which is enough to destroy quake-proof buildings and bunkers. That suit must be really strong.
Forget the suit, I'm surprised he didn't lose his grip on the snake through it all. He probably exerted more psi than what Rayquaza destroyed the asteroid with for all you know. O.o
The player is the son of some superhero probably? o: but nice answer m9
The player is the son/daughter of a Normal Gym leader, not a superhero. They can't even jump up a 2 ft cliff.
What if Norman is actually an acronym for Nebula's Oracle Ring-Master Arcane Necromancer, and the player has inherited the god-like abilities of the Normanson mages?
Then he'd be able to jump up ledges and walk around bushes. Also, he'd date Tabitha. I ship it.
But ledges, small rocks and saplings are his only weaknesses!
saplings?
The scrawny little Cut trees.
but they can cut those, right? And what about those annoying cracks in Sky Pillar? Are they not in ORAS?
No. You can't walk around it. You cannot use your firebreathing dragon to burn a tree or your bird to fly over it. You need the stupid HM and corresponding badge. Same with ledges. Why can't you get your gigantic rock snake to give you a boost? I mean I know it is for gameplay purposes but it is still pathetic. I highly doubt the player is extraordinary in any way.
They should replace trees with... like. .. ledges, but in reverse and give an hm called leap.  Replace cut with that
Yeah, it's not like irl you could just brush past the tiny tree.
