How do you start a new game in XY?

Question

At first glance this seems like a trivial question, yes, but it has me legitimately stumped. In the good ol' days of D/P/Pt, all you had to do was select "New Game". Nowadays, though, that option has disappeared from the home screen. Is there a certain combonation of buttons, or am I stuck with my save file on X forever?

Press Up, B, and X on the title screen

Instead of a or start, hit those three buttons and I guess you get a new game.

These young games and them A+B+Down+whatever. Back when I played games, there was just these here New Game buttons that you could just hit and get a new game. Now look what's happened!

Leftovers, or held items at all, didn't exist in Gen 1 you silly sausage. Kids these days with their lit screens and rechargeable flipscreens.
