Malamar and Inkay question?

When I told my friend about how inkay evolve, she asked me a really good question:
"How did they found out how to make it evolve? Was it like 'I'm so bored i'll try playing with the 3DS upside down. Oh my... inkay evolved!'"
Was it as she said?

You had some duplicates so I flagged them, if you could hide them that's be swell mate.

It probably was NOT as she said. Most likely, GameFreak leaked info on how to evolve all the Pokemon in X and Y. No one would really have to figure it out, they could just look it up on sites such as this and then so on.

Either that or there's this one guy out there who has way too much time on his hands to figure out how to evolve Inkay..
